Cody Johnson Cancels Remaining Tour Dates After Ruptured Eardrum
Cody Johnson is hitting pause on his tour but for the best reason. The country star announced on October 8, that he is canceling all remaining shows for the year after suffering a ruptured eardrum. In a message to fans on Instagram, the Half a Song singer, 38, said the injury happened while he was battling a severe upper respiratory and sinus infection.
“It is with a very heavy heart I have to share the remainder of this year’s concert performances will not be able to happen,” he wrote. “While battling a severe upper respiratory and sinus infection, I burst my eardrum. The severity of the rupture means I must undergo immediate surgery.”
Cody explained that doctors have ordered him to rest completely while he heals. “The healing process will take many weeks, and it’s not possible for me to sing during this time,” he added. “Without the surgery my downtime could be months. I pray for full healing so I can get well and return to doing what I love.”
He also thanked his loyal fanbase known as COJO Nation for their patience and support. “Thank you COJO Nation for the love and support now, and always,” he wrote, adding that ticket holders will receive updates via email.
The Dirt Cheap singer had six shows left on his tour this year, but plans to return to the stage in February 2026, performing through July.
This is not the first time health has forced Cody to slow down. Just last month, he postponed shows in Columbus, Ohio, after losing his voice, waking up without a singing voice and with severe cough, burning chest and throat.
As he shared on Instagram, “I hate letting you guys down, but the last thing I want is for y’all to spend your money and time on a show that I didn’t think is ‘me at my best.’”
Despite the setback, the Texas-born performer hasn’t been short on blessings. Earlier this year, Cody and his wife Brandi revealed they’re expecting their third child, a baby boy, during the 2025 Academy of Country Music Awards. The couple already shares two daughters, 10-year-old Clara Mae and 8-year-old Cori.
“We’re having a little boy!” he told PEOPLE at the time. “We decided to make this our announcement to the world and our gender reveal as well.”
Even while he rests, Cody has hinted that new music is on the horizon. In late September, he posted a photo from the studio with the caption, “Been working on something for y’all…”
This comes nearly a year since the release of Leather (Deluxe), his expanded 2024 version of the 2023 album.
