On September 14, 2016, power couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt argued as they headed to the airport. And then, 6,000 miles after, the couple’s marriage fell apart.
Angelina and her ex-husband Brad boarded a private jet with their six children on September 14, 2016. They were in the Southern part of France and were on their way home to Los Angeles after a glorious two weeks of family time and holiday at their vineyard in Provence.
What happened precisely during that flight? No one can tell, but whatever it was caused the much-loved power couple branded “Brangelina” to part ways. By the time the plane landed, the couple had already decided to separate.
Angelina brought all her six children with her, and they booked a hotel. The Tomb Raider actress later told authorities that Brad acted like a monster, and the divorce followed. The separation was bitter even by Hollywood standards.
And if, by now, the speculations about what transpired died down, the latest court filing revealed new assertions. And these allegations are neither trivial nor something you can brush under the rug.
Angelina accused her husband, reportedly drinking heavily at that time, of physically attacking the children. He choked and punched their kids while also assaulting Angelina. The entire Jolie-Pitt family, including the biological children Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne, plus the adopted kids Maddox, Pax, and Zahara, were all involved in the incident.
These allegations can significantly impact Brad’s career, especially in light of the MeToo movement. Many spectators see this as a threat to the Ocean’s Eleven and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actor’s career.
An FBI investigation ensued, but Brad was not prosecuted for his actions. But according to Angelina’s attorneys, the FBI agent who conducted the investigation had probable cause, so Brad can be charged with a federal crime for his behavior.
Brad denied the accusation throughout since the issue emerged, and his lawyers overruled Angelina’s recent claim as untrue.
According to Angelina, Brad’s behavior was already foul after a confrontation with one of the kids before the flight. And when the family was flying, Angelica approached her husband to find out what was bothering him, and he accused her of being too submissive with the kids.
Brad then attacked her verbally with a series of tirades. About 1.5 hours later, Brad came back and demanded she go to the back of the plane to the bathroom, where the verbal abuse continued while he grabbed Angelina by the shoulders and shook her.
Brad, overcome with emotions, also punched the ceiling several times, prompting Angelina to leave the tight space. This is when one of the children asked their mother if it was OK. Brad answered on her behalf and shouted that she was not OK while continuously hurling insults at his wife.
One of their children spoke in defense of their mother. This, too, did not go well with Brad, causing him to lunge at the child. Angelina intervened and grabbed him to stop him from hurting one of the kids.
The flight became a tense nightmare for Angelina and their kids, and thankfully, Angelina was able to make arrangements for her and the children once they were back in Los Angeles. Five days later, Angelina filed for divorce.
