Angelina Jolie Accuses Brad Pitt of Abuse
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt had been one of the hottest couples for ten years. They officially separated in 2019, though they had been rumored to be single for three years beforehand. The legal finalization process of their divorce began in 2021.
The most grueling part of their divorce has been the custody battle over their six children. They went to court for this twice, after the first judge disqualified their case, without giving much reason to the public. They were declared officially divorced by a private judge, but it wasn’t until they went to the state Supreme Court to finalize custody of their children.
This case was granted in Jolie’s favor, and she has full custody over her children who are underage, while Pitt has visitation rights. The couple is still in a legal battle about their divorce, mainly over their materialistic assets. Currently, they are in a suit about their winery.
Now, Jolie has made claims of abuse towards herself and her children at the hands of Brad Pitt. While they were on a flight from their Chateau Miraval winery in France to California, Pitt “grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her, and then grabbed her shoulders and shook her again before pushing her into the bathroom wall.”
The suit also claims that Pitt verbally berated her with insults. What’s more, Jolie was not the only one who was allegedly assaulted by Pitt on this flight. When one of their children stepped in to defend Jolie, Pitt “lunged at his own child and Jolie grabbed him from behind to stop him,” then he “threw himself backwards into the airplane’s seat injuring Jolie’s back and elbow.”
During this time, their children were all between the ages of eight and fifteen. The suit also states that “the children rushed in and all bravely tried to protect each other. Before it was over, Pitt choked one of the children and struck another in the face. Some of the children pleaded with Pitt to stop. They were all frightened. Many were crying.”
In the same lawsuit, there are allegations that Pitt poured red wine on Jolie, and poured beer and red wine onto some of their children.
Angelina Jolie has been a human rights activist for the better part of her acting career, and has participated in over 60 missions to help people who had been displaced due to war in many countries such as Syria, Sierra Leone, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
She never thought that her human rights activism would go towards something as personal as her own children, though. She briefly mentioned this in an interview last year, before any specific details of her husband’s abuse were revealed. She couldn’t speak much on it at the time, but did say, “I just want my family to heal.”
