Kanye West Misses Scheduled Divorce Deposition
Last week, Kanye West was supposed to meet with his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, and her legal team to discuss how to divide their impressive $2.36 billion wealth.
Unfortunately, nothing was discussed since the rapper missed this scheduled meeting, according to the new legal documents of their case.
Why the rapper did not make it is still being determined. The two parties agreed to set another deposition to make up for the missed meeting.
The 42-year-old influencer and the 45-year-old rapper have rescheduled the meeting for later this month. It will be held on November 29, 2022, at 9.30 a.m.
This is ahead of their two-day trial scheduled on December 14, where the two can finally and fully settle their divorce.
Should Kanye miss the November 29 deposition, he would look bad, which can pose significant problems for him. At the same time, it won’t sit well with the judge assigned to their case.
The main point of discussion now is how the couple will fairly settle and divide their combined assets. After seven years of marriage, the two media influencers have amassed a billion-dollar fortune.
The news came out last month that Kanye’s lawyer filed a declaration of disclosure, indicating that their settlement is almost near its end. This means that, finally, the parties have reached a settlement.
The good news is, Kanye appears to be cooperating and making an effort to make the process easier for everyone. Reportedly, Kanye gave Kim’s legal team all of his financial information. They have also come up with an agreement on the division of their properties and finances.
With the divorce settlement almost done, Kanye has one less thing to worry about, given the back-to-back backlash and controversies he has been involved in. His erratic behavior, illogical decisions, and statements have reportedly caused Kim to distance herself from him.
Communication between the two, as of late, has been through their assistants. Sometimes, they didn’t talk to each other while watching their children’s games.
Kanye and Kim had a high-profile wedding in 2014 in Florence, Italy. They have four children together, ages nine (North), six (Saint), four (Chicago), and three (Psalm), all of whom are currently living with Kim.
Kim filed for divorce in February 2021, and their legal battle has been long-drawn and publicized. Kanye was very vocal about his disapproval of his children, specifically North, being on social media.
He also opposed Kim’s idea of being declared legally single, although Kim won. A judge granted her the status. As of March 2022, she is officially back to being single.
While Kim seems to have been moving on smoothly with fewer challenges, Kanye has to face bouts of legal actions, with close friends ending their relationships with him, and the rapper having to settle plenty of controversies.
