DJ Stephen “tWitch” Boss Passes Away at 40, 3 Days After Wedding Anniversary
TW: Suicide, Graphic Details
DJ Stephen “tWitch” Boss’s death was so sudden and unexpected, it shocked Hollywood on Wednesday, leaving all those who have worked with him in tears.
Stephen Boss, a regular on The Ellen Show, had mentioned planning to have another baby with her wife just last month. The performer died by suicide after shooting himself in a motel bathroom. The 40-year-old was found in an LA motel, The Oak Tree, on Tuesday at 11:15 AM. Ironically, the hotel is located just 15 minutes from his home.
The staff of Oak Tree shared that a maid uncovered the DJ’s body while doing a wellness check on him after Stephen failed to check out at the designated time. The management confirmed that Stephen used his name to secure a room last Monday.
The scene was not pleasant at all, given that allegedly, the DJ shot himself in the head inside the bathroom despite no one hearing any gunshot during his stay.
Allison filed a police report when her husband didn’t come home on Tuesday and left their residence without his car.
Paramedics and police were called to the scene of the incident and he was later pronounced dead. It is speculated that perhaps the suicide happened last Monday.
Perhaps the most heartbreaking thing about his death is that he had just celebrated his wedding anniversary with his 34-year-old wife, Allison Holker, three days ago.
During his interview at The Jennifer Hudson Show, he and his wife even shared how they thought of adding another little one to their family. Stephen mentioned how much he loves the kids and that the thought of having one more was the subject of constant conversation between him and his wife.
Sharing his enthusiasm, Allison also revealed that they might be trying for another baby soon. Unfortunately, her excitement turned into heartbreak last Wednesday when Allison posted her heartfelt statement that she would “save the last dance” for him.
Allison’s statement says, “It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share that my husband Stephen has left us. Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends, and community above all else, and leading with love and light was everything to him.
He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans. To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt.
I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory. We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and our three children.
Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you.”
This statement was released after Stephen’s bereaved wife opened her Enrico, California home to family members coming in to support the family.
Stephen rose to fame on the So You Can Think You Can Dance show, and this is also where he met his wife, Allison, who was a dance teacher on the very same show. Together, they have three children: 14-year-old Weslie Renae, 6-year-old Maddox Laurel, and 3-year-old Zaia. Weslie was from Allison’s previous relationship, but Stephen adopted her.
For their ninth wedding anniversary last December 10, the couple even posted a video of them dancing together. Little did everyone know that the happy occasion would soon be besmirched by the loss of the well-loved patriarch.
Stephen’s death has also cast an extremely gray cloud over Weslie’s future who is set to join Notre Dame University as part of the class of 2026. The teen is also part of her school’s soccer team and has a promising future as an influencer. Weslie promotes Dick’s Sporting Goods and also models sportswear.
Close friends of the DJ have paid several tributes to him already, and one at the frontline is Ellen DeGeneres, who called him “pure love and light.” Ellen further paid a tribute to him by adding that she was heartbroken and would miss him. In a tweet, she asked fans and friends to send love and support to Allison and his beautiful children – Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia.
Deepest condolences to the bereaved family.
