Not Anymore! Carrie Underwood Frees Herself From Having To Be A Specific Size
American Idol alum Carrie Underwood is no longer working up a sweat just to fit a certain size.
The 39-year-old singer shared that over the years, her goals have shifted. Back then, she had been working out to fall under the accepted body size, but now, she is physically more conscious because of her goals—energy and longevity.
Recall that after her Idol stint, Carrie underwent an extreme diet. So in 2020, she looked skinny, but despite her physical appearance, the singer admitted that she was not feeling great or at her healthiest.
The beautiful singer who won American Idol when she was only 22 years old admitted, “I feel like earlier in my career, I was working out more to be a certain size or fit into a certain aesthetic that I thought I wanted to be.” And because of this, Carrie admitted that her daily limit was set to 800 calories.
Further, in her interview with People, Carrie admitted that there were plenty of times that she felt underwhelmed by the results she was getting from her workout.
Today, Carrie has graduated from the industry’s expectations regarding body standards and is very proud to have the right relationship with her body. Carrie mentioned that she is now more attuned to her body and knows what it needs to be healthy.
With age comes a more mature mindset, which the Something In The Water hitmaker shared. “I’ve worked out a lot and been frustrated because it wasn’t the results I wanted. I feel like now, at this point in my life, you do learn that it is a lifestyle, it’s balance.”
The mother of two has developed a different mindset and workout routine now that her size no longer matters. Carrie further explained that her base levels now focus on caring for herself, moving more, eating healthy, and staying hydrated.
Further explaining, Carrie stated that if she’s feeling tired or weird, she goes back to her base levels and starts to drill down. She asks herself questions like, “Am I not drinking enough water?” or “Did I eat fried food?”
Then Carrie could quickly identify what was lacking or exceeding and then make the necessary changes to improve herself. The performer has learned to listen to her body and respond to it the best way she can.
And if there’s one thing about the Grammy winner, it’s her impressive dedication, which her trainer can attest to. Eve Overland shared with US Weekly that Carrie is so keen on staying fit that she runs in place even while doing her laundry. Or the singer does walking lunges around her home.
The mother of 7-year-old Isaiah and 3-year-old Jacob, married to Mike Fisher since 2010, concluded that working out is playing the long game. She ended it with the personal realization that it is, after all, a measure to take care of herself.
