Spanish Footballer Gerard Piquè Goes Public With New Girlfriend, Clara Chía Martí, 7 Months After Split With Singer Shakira
Gerard Piqué seems to have moved on from Shakira after a tumultuous end to their almost 12 years relationship.
On Wednesday, January 25, Gerard Piqué showed off his new girlfriend, Clara Chía Martí, 23, on his Instagram page. The selfie shows the former soccer player snuggling with his new beau, even though he didn’t include any caption to the photo.
In June 2022, 45-year-old Shakira and 35-year-old Gerard publicly announced their breakup, saying: “We regret to confirm that we are separating. We ask for privacy at this moment for the well-being of our children, who are our maximum priority. Thank you in advance for your understanding and respect.”
Shakira and Gerard met in March 2011 on the set of her music video for Waka Waka, which served as the official song for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. They share two sons, Mila, 10, and Sasha, 7.
A few months after publicly announcing their breakup, the Waka Waka singer released a new song, BZRP Music Session #53, where she threw shade at her ex. “You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo, You traded a Rolex for a Casio,” the Colombian singer dissed her ex-partner in her collaboration with Bizarrap.
In the latest “diss” song, the singer adds: “She’s got the name of a good person. Clearly is not how it sounds.” The person referred to in the song seems to be Gerard’s new girlfriend.
The Hips Don’t Lie singer “worked out” that Gerard was cheating on her after she found an eaten jam in their fridge upon returning from a tour, which he and their children dislike. She told This Morning that she was looking “to find the truth” when she checked their fridge.
While Shakira gained primary custody of their two children in November, the singer seems to be still affected by the separation. Ahead of the release of her latest “revenge” song, Shakira penned an emotional Instagram post in English and Spanish saying, “Even if our wounds are still open in this new year, time has a surgeon’s hands.”
“Even if someone’s betrayed us, we must continue to trust others. When faced with contempt, continue to know your worth. Because there are more good people than indecent ones. More people with empathy than indifference. The ones who leave are fewer than the many who stay by our side. Our tears are not in vain, they water the soil our future will spring from and make us more human so that even while suffering heartache, we can continue to live,” she continued.
