Real-life Superhero! Jeremy Renner Took The Hit Of His 14,000 Pound Snowcat To Keep It From Hitting His Nephew
Actor Jeremy Renner started the year painfully with thirty broken bones, and it appears that Marvel’s Hawkeye is a true hero in every right in real life. What happened was that Jeremy was trying to save his nephew when the snow plow started sliding. He was then pulled under and crushed on New Year’s Day.
The 14,000-pound PistenBully Snowcat’s brake didn’t fully click in and started to slide sideways just after the 52-year-old Avengers star used it to pull his other nephew’s truck.
What happened next was something many would expect only to happen in the movies because the massive vehicle ran on tracks and then completely rolled over Jeremy. Unfortunately, the plow’s parking brake was not engaged, which could have prevented the entire accident.
According to the Nevada Sheriff’s resident report shared by CNN, “The PistenBully snow groomer began sliding, causing Renner to exit the vehicle without setting the emergency brake.”
The report further stated, “Although the PistenBully had some mechanical issues, it is believed based on our mechanical inspection that the parking brake would keep the PistenBully from moving forward. When Renner attempted to stop or divert the PistenBully to avoid injury to (his nephew), he was pulled under the vehicle by the track and run over.”
CNN mentioned that based on the report, there might still be mechanical issues that need to be factored in that caused the accident, noting that the brake light indicator inside the plow’s cab doesn’t appear to be working.
Jeremy’s nephew had helped him until the emergency responders came and assisted them on the scene. They then airlifted Jeremy to the hospital, where he has been staying since and has undergone two surgeries.
Based on Jeremy’s account last January 5 with the investigators, the snowplow began sliding in a sideways manner after he towed his nephew’s truck. And then, at that point, it started to roll down the hill.
Jeremy could still jump out of the way, but he then realized that the plow was heading toward his nephew and that it would be a direct hit.
Based on the same report shared by CNN, “Jeremy feared the PistenBully was going to hit (his nephew), so he decided to attempt to stop or divert the PistenBully.”
And to get back into their cabin, Jeremy had to go back and get into the moving vehicle. He did, and unfortunately, he was pulled under the left side of the track.
The Bourne Legacy actor’s family and friends realized that Jeremy almost died on that fateful New Year’s Day and that it would take him two years to recover from all his orthopedic injuries and chest trauma.
Last week, Jeremy took the time to share updates about his current condition and recovery. The last photo he shared was of him going through physical therapy. And last Saturday, Jeremy expressed his hope that the 30-plus broken bones will mend and grow stronger, just like the bond and love of friends and family are deepening.
