Aaron Carter’s Twin Sister Drops Her Efforts To Take Control Of Her Deceased Brother’s $550,000 Estate
Aaron Carter’s twin, Angel, will no longer push through with taking control of her brother’s estate.
Instead of making it a huge deal and sparking indifference, Angel cut a deal with Melanie Martin, Aaron’s fiancée and mother of his 14-month-old son, Prince. According to the agreement, they will appoint an unbiased third party to act as Aaron’s estate administrator. The estimated value of Aaron’s personal property and real estate is $550,000.
Judge Michael Small granted Angel’s request to take back her motion to become administrator of the estate last Wednesday at Downtown Los Angeles’ probate court.
The judge also signed off on the new agreement where he appointed Aileen Federizo, a financial assistant, as the administrator. Aileen, as of date, now has full authority over the estate.
Angel and Melanie were both absent during last Wednesday’s decision, prompting the judge to schedule another hearing for June 25, 2023.
Aileen will pay and clear any outstanding bills and creditors and then evaluate Aaron’s assets. She will likely create a trust as well to ensure that Prince is taken care of until he turns 18.
Upon his 18th birthday, Prince will inherit the rest of whatever Aaron had in his possession.
Given that Aaron died without a will, his estate will go to his next of kin, Prince, because he and Melanie were not married. This is as stipulated by California law.
The Crush on You and 90s heartthrob died November 5, 2022, at his Lancaster, California, home. He was just 34 years old.
He seems to have drowned in his bathtub, although the official cause of the singer’s death won’t be released until all of his toxicology reports are completed.
Jane Carter, the singer’s mother, whose daughter Leslie died from an overdose in 2012, believes that Aaron shared the same tragedy. This was after the coroner informed the family that no water was found in Aaron’s lungs, indicating that he didn’t drown.
Melanie, who had been living in a different home when Aaron died, has been very insistent that the police investigate closely an alleged drug deal that her partner made on the night he died. She believes that it will provide some clarity on the drug overdose.
Prince’s mother has been cooperative with the police force, turning over several text messages from Aaron’s phone from someone demanding an amount of $800 for an unknown drug.
The possible drug overdose doesn’t come as a surprise to the young performer’s friends and family. Aaron had several rehab stints in 2011 and 2017. And based on the exchange of messages, Aaron did reply to the man, telling him that he no longer needed that unknown substance.
The conversation continued with the man telling Carter that it didn’t matter if he didn’t need the drug because Aaron still owed him money. The last SMS had Aaron asking the man if he was threatening him.
Aaron’s remaining family, including his older brother Nick, a Backstreet Boys member, will be traveling to the Florida Keys in spring to spread Aaron and Leslie’s ashes.
Before his death, Aaron was struggling with mental health conditions like bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and depression. His addiction to drugs was the last straw to his harrowing ordeal.
