Adele Dedicates Grammy Win To Her Son & Boyfriend, Blushes Hard After First-Time Meeting Dwayne Johnson In Person
Adele won her 16th Grammy at the 2023 Grammy’s Award held on Sunday, February 5, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.
The Easy On Me hitmaker got emotional as she took the stage to deliver her acceptance speech for Best Pop Solo Performance. While accepting her trophy from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, the 34-year-old talented vocalist quickly thanked her 10-year-old son, Angelo, and her boyfriend, Rich Paul — who she’s been dating since May 2021 — for their support while she created 30.
Tearfully delivering a heartwarming speech, the British singer said, “I just want to dedicate this to my son Angelo…oh, God. Rich, he said, ‘don’t cry. If you win anything tonight, don’t cry.’ And here I am crying.”
“I wrote this first verse in the shower when I was choosing to change my son’s life, and he’s been nothing but humble and gracious and loving to me the whole time,” she confined.
Before the Hello crooner was called upon to the stage by Dwayne Johnson, they had both had a meet-cute moment when comedian Trevor Noah came over to the singer’s table to make a long overdue introduction.
“The person that Adele has always wanted to meet is Dwayne Johnson…I found out he’s a huge fan of yours, too,” the South-African born comedian told the singer, who looked excited.
After a brief tease that Dwayne wasn’t present but rather The Rock was, Trevor pointed at Dwayne, who quickly walked toward Adele’s table to greet her. On sighting the wrestler-turned-actor, Adele grabbed her boyfriend’s shoulder in surprise before standing immediately to give Dwayne a big hug.
While greeting each other with a kiss on each cheek, Trevor jokingly added: “You two get acquainted; we gotta keep the show moving.”
Later in the day, Dwayne welcomed her on stage to receive her Grammy in the highly competitive category saying, “And the Grammy goes to…get up here, best friend, Adele.”
In a 2021 makeup tutorial video with YouTuber Nikkie de Jager, the Set Fire To The Rain singer told the beauty artist she “would actually cry” if she met The Rock in person. “He’s amazing. He’s just incredible. I just want him to be my mate. I want him to be my friend,” she told the YouTuber.
She confessed to Nikkie that she “literally fell off” her chair after he sent flowers to one of her concerts. She also pointed out that his wife, Lauren Hashian, 38, has attended at least one of her concerts.
