Nicola Peltz, A Bridezilla To Her Planners But A World-Famous Actress To Her Father: The Drama Behind The Wedding
Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz’s wedding was a dream. Everything was beautiful and perfect, and their fairy tale wedding deserved to land in the pages of Vogue.
Sure, there was that drama about Nicola’s wedding dress that caused some distance between her and her mother-in-law, Victoria Beckham, but there appeared to be more trouble and plenty of drama behind the scenes.
Nicola, the daughter of billionaire Nelson Peltz, has now been reported to have gone through not one but three different sets of wedding planners. Two of the three fell short of Nicola’s expectations in terms of both demand and scope.
It was reported that, at the last minute, the scramble to book musicians was unfolding. There was also what was described as a day of reckoning for one of the event designers, who ended up in tears and became BFFs with the tequila because of the stressful—almost toxic—wedding project.
These new behind-the-scenes revelations emerged alongside some of the terse text messages written and sent by the 27-year-old bride. It has also come to light that Nicola’s father, a tenacious businessman, was reportedly eyeing a seat on the Disney board.
Nelson is suing the party planner, Nicole Braghin, who was reduced to tears, and Arianna Grijalba, her partner. This is on the grounds that the two are refusing to return the $159,000 deposit that he paid them.
Nelson and Claudia, his wife, contacted the wedding planners through Plan Design Events, their firm, in March 2022. This is after the Peltzs decided to replace their first wedding planner, a celebrity favorite, Preston Bailey.
There is no official statement yet on why Preston was replaced and why he was determined unfit for the job. Preston was the one who organized the ex-president’s daughter Ivanka Trump’s wedding to Jared Kushner.
80-year-old Nelson stated in his legal filing that Preston faced challenges while making plans for the massive event at the Peltz’s estate in Palm Beach, Florida. The wedding happened on April 9, 2022, and the reported cost of the nuptials was a whopping $3.5 million.
The Peltz family spared no expense for their “world-famous actress” daughter’s three-day extravaganza.
In the lawsuit, they stated, “Nicola is a world-famous actress who has starred in blockbuster movies and television shows, including, among others, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Bates Motel, and The Last Airbender. The guest list included more than five hundred people, including numerous celebrities, athletes, dignitaries, and other influential individuals, who traveled from around the globe to attend.”
Six weeks before the wedding, on March 1, 2022, the bride’s family was keeping their fingers crossed that Nicole Braghin and Arianna Grijalba would be able to pick up where Preston left off. However, nine days later and after settling the $159,000 deposit, the family decided that the two were out because they could not handle the VIP guestlist.
Nelson’s lawyers added in the lawsuit, “The celebrity of the wedding couple combined with the anticipated attendance of many high-profile guests required that the wedding planner has the expertise and staffing to plan, coordinate, and execute a wedding event of the expected caliber and complexity.”
With Nelson trying to get his money back, he revealed some of the more intimate details of the event, including screenshots of the message exchanges between him, his daughter, and the wedding planners.
Some of the messages include Nicola telling the planners that she was tired of catching their repeated mistakes, despite the wedding planner explaining that the technology used in tracking the virtual guest list would require more time to learn.
What’s surprising in the lawsuit is that Nelson even suggested the event planners were abusing alcohol. He also insinuated that they oversold their abilities but were unable to deliver and handle the event, which the Peltz family called the opportunity of a lifetime.
