Olivia Wilde Clears Air Over Publicly Calling A$AP Rocky “Hot”
On Monday, after the SuperBowls halftime show, Olivia Wilde shared a post on her Instagram story referring to A$AP Rocky, 34, as “hot.” The actress quickly returned to clarify things after the backlash the post got.
In the Instagram story that led many of Rihanna’s fans to question the Don’t Worry Darling director’s motive, she wrote: “If I thought he was hot before, this really put me over the edge.” The actress-turned-director was referring to A$AP Rocky’s sweet display during his partner Rihanna’s Super Bowl LVII halftime show on Sunday.
However, Rihanna’s fans found Olivia’s post cringe and inappropriate, especially because she tagged the couple in the story.
After a fan shared the post on Twitter, the backlash quickly grew. One tweet said, “She’s really living up to her last name.”
“This is so inappropriate,” another added as someone else wrote, “The way she’s saying this with her whole chest and tagging both of them…it’s embarrassing.”
Realizing that people had taken the post the wrong way, Olivia returned and immediately deleted the first post, replacing it with another in which she clarified, saying, “For anyone who got it twisted [insert rolling eye emoji]…it’s hot to respect your partner. Especially when your partner just did thaaaaaat.”
Although many quickly assumed that the Better Living Through Chemistry actress had ulterior motives, a few defended her. A tweeter called out the repost of Olivia’s post, saying: “Shame on you deliberately misunderstanding and reporting and spreading the misunderstanding to a herd of people willing to believe. And if you honestly believe that’s what she meant, maybe you need to stop, just stop.”
However, Olivia has been out of a relationship since November 2022, after her nearly two-year relationship with Harry Styles ended over busy schedules. The movie director and the Grammy-winning artist first met during the filming of Don’t Worry Darling. Both stars started dating two months after Olivia split from seven-year fiancé Jason Sudeikis, with whom she shares two kids, Otis and Daisy.
Many speculated that the actress broke up with the Ted Lasso star to be with the former One Direction member. She denied such claims while speaking to Vanity Fair. “The complete horses–t idea that I left Jason for Harry is completely inaccurate,” she said. “Our relationship was over long before I met Harry. Like any relationship that ends, it doesn’t end overnight.”
