Rihanna Reveals She Had “No Clue” About New Pregnancy During Vogue Cover Shoot
On February 15, Rihanna shared a photo on her Instagram page that had her, A$AP Rocky, 34, and their son posing on the British Vogue March cover.
In another separate picture on her Instagram, the singer shared the picture of her nine-month-old son and captioned it, “my perfect baby!!!”
She added another picture where she gushed over her son being “so fine” and more details about her new pregnancy. “How crazy both of my babies were in these photos and mommy had no clue[inserts love emoji],” she said.
Through her post, she revealed that she had no idea she was expecting a new baby when she and her family posed for the British Vogue photos in December.
Although one of her Super Bowl LVII choreographers has hinted that Rihanna’s pregnancy reveal was “unplanned” and “last minute,” the singer-turned-business-mogul took the crowd by surprise when she showed off her new baby bump while performing on the Super Bowl stage on Sunday night.
A representative of the billionaire singer confirmed after the SuperBowl halftime show that she was expecting another baby with her “best friend” A$AP Rocky. However, it’s unclear when the singer learned she was pregnant again.
Speaking to Vogue about performing at the Super Bowl, she said: “There’s still a lot of mending to be done in my eyes, but it’s powerful to break those doors and have representation at such a high, high level and a consistent level.”
Rihanna’s invitation to perform at the 2023 Super Bowl games is not the first time she has gotten the invitation. In 2018, an invitation was extended to the singer, which she declined in solidarity with former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who was campaigning against racial injustice in the NFL.
Speaking to Vogue, the Grammy-winning singer reveals that raising a Black son in America is the “scariest responsibilities in life.” She tells Vogue that “all of those things really start to hit differently” after having a child, and one is often left with the question: “What am I leaving my kids to?”
The Diamond hitmaker also added that motherhood was part of her reason for accepting to perform at the Super Bowl. She explains saying: “It’s this knowing that you can do anything, even things that seem the craziest, like ‘I’m going to say yes to the Super Bowl in the middle of postpartum?’”
Rihanna also shared with the publication that she plans to release her long-awaited ninth album — a follow-up to her 2016 album Anti, later this year.
