Ellie Goulding Makes Another Attempt To Shut Down Rumors Of Love Triangle With Fellow Singers Ed Sheeran And Niall Horran

Thanks to a TikTok comment, Ellie Goulding has once again addressed a longstanding rumor of a love triangle with Photographs singer Ed Sheeran and One Direction star Niall Horran. 

It all began last Saturday when she shared a video of herself dancing to Harry Styles’ As It Was. A user commented on the post saying, “can’t believe u cheated on ed with niall but slay fr.”

The singer had responded to the comment with “False!!!! But also slay.”

This would be Ellie’s latest attempt at touching on the rumors that she cheated on Ed with Niall. In 2013, Ellie and Niall sparked dating rumors as a UK tabloid reported a sighting of the two at the V festival in England. According to The Mirror, Ellie and Niall put up a massive show of PDA at the event, an act that was seen as a confirmation of romance between the two.

A week after Ellie and Niall were seen together, she and Ed Sheeran were seen holding hands at the MTV VMAs. However, she denies claims that the gesture between her and Ed had a romantic undertone. “I love that holding hands with my friends means we’re an item. In that case I am in many relationships. Lover not a hater. #whatthef–k,” she said at the time.

The rumors died for a while until Ed came out to say something was indeed going on. “I mean, normal people don’t hold hands if they’re just friends,” he stated as he revealed that “It was going on. And now it’s not.”

The Thinking Out Loud singer would later release a song Don’t in 2014. A track about a fellow singer who cheated on him, fans didn’t take long to do the math and conclude that the song was referring to the triangle between he, Ellie, and Niall.

Later in 2015, Ellie confirmed to ELLE U.K. that she “did go on a few dates with Niall.” She however stated that she was “never in a relationship with Ed.”

“I have absolutely no idea where that came from and why it was turned into such a big thing.”

Whatever really happened between the three, they must have moved on as Ellie is now married to art dealer Casper Joplin who she wed in August 2019. Together, they share a son, Arthur.

Ed married consultant Cherry Seaborn in 2018. Their union is blessed with two kids — Lyra Antarctica and Jupiter Seaborn.
