Priscilla Presley “Not Speaking” With Grand Daughter, Riley Keough, As They Battle Over Lisa Marie’s Will
Priscilla Presley’s relationship with her granddaughter, Riley Keough, has “changed” over six weeks since the death of her daughter Lisa Marie on January 12 due to a cardiac arrest.
Following her mother’s death, Riley, who in a different turn of events would have been massively involved with promoting her upcoming TV show — the TV adaptation of the novel Daisy Jones & the Six, is wrapped in a lawsuit with her grandmother.
The granddaughter, 33, and grandmother, 77, are battling it out over Lisa Marie’s will. Lisa, the only daughter of the legendary singer Elvis and Priscilla Presley, inherited her father’s estate, including Graceland, and $100 million at age 25 in 1993. In 2016, Lisa removed her mother as her will’s executor while placing her two adult children, Riley and Benjamin, as her sole heirs.
However, in July 2020, Benjamin died by suicide, leaving Riley as the sole heir to her mother’s inheritance. Shockingly, her grandmother, Pricislia, is challenging the rewritten will in court based on the “authenticity and validity” of the 2016 amendment.
The will amendment left the Daisy Jones & the Six actress with ownership of her grandfather, Elvis’ tourist-attraction Memphis mansion, Graceland, and 15% ownership of Elvis’ estate.
Speaking to Page Six, one of Riley’s old friends told the publication, “This is the time Riley would really need her grandmother.”
The source stated that although Riley and Priscilla were once close, “Riley is seeing a new side of her grandmother.”
Another source from Graceland told the publication “Riley’s not looking for a war. She always had a good relationship with her grandmother. Lisa had her issues with her mother, but…she didn’t drag [her kids] into [their] personal issues.”
On what would have been Lisa’s birthday, Priscilla took to her Instagram page to mourn her daughter, saying: “Today would have been Lisa’s 55th birthday. My wish is to protect my three grandchildren and keep our family together.”
However, the family seems to be growing apart as an insider pointed out to Entertainment Tonight that “Priscilla is adamant that she has a valid case and that she will prevail in court.”
They also stated, “Riley and Priscilla aren’t communicating at this time but have been in communication through lawyers.”
The source added that this has been a trying moment for Riley, who “has been mourning the loss of her mother and is heartbroken to have to deal with a trust dispute with a family member.” However, Page Six notes that Riley has a “big legal team behind her.”
