Jenna Ortega And Aubrey Plaza Cook Up A Dark Comedy Storm At The Sag Awards
Our Wednesday girl Jenna Ortega stunned at her first appearance at the 2023 Screen Actors Guild Awards in an asymmetrical dress with a thigh-high split. The event was hosted on February 26, Sunday, at the Fairmont Century Plaza in California.
She was nominated for “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series” for her titular role in the all-time-popular “Wednesday”. The actress shared space with The White Lotus star Aubrey Plaza to present the award for outstanding performance by a male actor in a television or limited series, cooking up a chilling storm.
Before presenting, the duo took 10 seconds of silence (which felt like 10 minutes to us) before they indulged in a conversation we could only be glad to be a part of.
Plaza started the show by stating that she didn’t understand why they were paired together, and Ortega agreed, saying, “Yeah, I know, we have nothing in common.”
Nothing in common? Ladies, you’re practically the picture of a twin flame.
“We should find people who did this,” Plaza, who’s known (and loved) for her deadpan-style comedy, began, and her thoughts were soon echoed by the queen of goth, who’s literally on the same wavelength as the comedian.
The duo simultaneously suggested they should curse the families of people who did this “and watch as misfortune follows their bloodline for the next seven generations.”
The resemblance, we must admit, is eerie to the core—and even our girl Plaza could tell that, as she admitted, “Ok, I see it now” the moment the duo finished their planned-but-not-really-planned mission of statement on pairing them together.
In line with Fez’s script: You’re afraid? I’m afraid, bro.
On a light-hearted note, Ortega stopped to chat with Jeremy Parsons and Janine Rubenstein from People and Entertainment Weekly, where she talked about how her life has been since the hit series Wednesday came out in November 2022.
The actress, on the popularity of the show Wednesday, said that she’s not used to that kind of attention, but she’s “really happy that the cast and crew are getting the recognition that they deserve.” She said that the journey has “felt like a whirlwind,” but surrounding herself with people she knows and loves has helped ease her nerves.
Known for her delightfully chaotic on-screen persona, Ortega also caught up with the ET pre-show, where she confided how nervous she was to make her upcoming debut on Saturday Night Live as a guest host, which is to take place on the 11th of March.
The actress shared that she has jitters about the upcoming project. However, she went on to assert that “it’s so funny because everyone is prepping me for it,” sharing stories of how their clients have had the most stressful week of their lives preparing for SNL.
Lucky for us, she’s not giving in to the nervousness and believes “it will be delightful and fun and wonderful” in actuality. We have to admit, we like this hopeful side of her.
