OITNB Actress Ruby Rose Disappears From Social Media A Day Before Birthday
Ruby Rose turned 37 on Monday, but unlike most in the entertainment industry, she did not exactly approach the day with enthusiasm. The actress left Instagram on her birthday, dashing fans’ hopes of seeing her have fun on her big day.
On Sunday, the Orange Is The New Black actress uploaded a post on her Instagram story, stating that she would be taking a short break from social media. According to her, she would be logging out of her social media accounts till Tuesday.
In the now-deleted post, she also reminded her fans that she does not celebrate her birthdays.
“Logging off until the 21st. If you have followed me for long enough you know I don’t acknowledge tomorrow,” the post read.
“I don’t celebrate that day… That day has never been a celebration. Some have tried but it was never a celebration at the time, and nor is it now. So please leave it for me this year,” he added.
The reason for Ruby’s less-than-enthusiastic attitude toward her birthday is not clear. However, she has celebrated her birthday in the past and thrown parties with family and friends.
For her 2019 birthday, she held celebrations with some friends, including You actress Elizabeth Lail and Batwoman co-star Rachel Skarsten.
The group was seen dancing around gleefully in Ruby’s kitchen as they vibed to retro pop songs and feasted on cake and other junk food.
The party even featured customized shirts with “Happy Birthday Ruby” inscribed on them.
“My friends are the best,” the Batwoman star stated when she shared clips of the event.
Two years before that celebration, Ruby also enjoyed a surprise birthday tribute from Jessica Origliasso, one half of the Origliasso sisters who was her girlfriend at the time. Jessica had serenaded the actress at the live music venue Eddie’s Attic in Atlanta, with the crowd singing her a Happy Birthday song. She also got roses to make the evening completely wholesome.
Despite how sweet things looked at the time, Ruby has been in a feud with Jessica and her twin sister Lisa for a while now after her relationship with Jessica lasted from 2016 to 2018.
While Ruby and Jessica dated, the relationship between Jessica and her sister hit the rocks. According to Lisa, the relationship between her and her sister and bandmate was so strained that they did not talk or perform together for a year. However, after she and Ruby split, the sisters settled and, in a turn of events, made some public statements against Ruby.
While the details about the feud between Ruby and the sisters remain a mystery, the John Wick: Chapter 2 star has hinted at a book that would expose “the sisters,” whom she says were “horrific to her.”
