“It’s Happening, Y’all!”: Kelly Clarkson Announces She Would Be Holding Las Vegas Residency This Summer
A day after exciting her fans with the suggestion of new music, Kelly Clarkson announced that she would be performing a 10-date residency in Las Vegas this summer.
The singer took to Twitter on Monday to unveil her plans regarding the residency. “It’s happening, y’all! I’m so excited to announce that I’m finally heading to Las Vegas for 10 shows this summer!” she tweeted.
According to a flyer she posted, the events would hold between July 28 and August 19 at Planet Hollywood’s Zappos Theater.
Fans who would like to attend the concerts can purchase tickets from Ticketmaster starting from 10 a.m. PT on Friday, March 31.
In the announcement, Kelly promised to sing “all” of her fans’ favorite songs and some new ones from her upcoming album.
“I’ll be singing all of your favorites… and yes, I’ll be singing some new ones, too!” the What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stronger star wrote.
Chemistry: An Intimate Night with Kelly Clarkson would be Kelly’s first major set of shows since her Meaning of Life tour in 2019. Running through 28 days, the tour was a commercial success, raking in $17.5 million in gross.
While the residency is not far ahead, fans have something to look forward to as she hinted on Sunday that the first single off Chemistry would be released soon. “When I say soon, I mean really soon,” she stated.
The upcoming album reportedly includes tracks such as Chemistry, Raw Cuts, Red Flag Collector, and Rock Hudson.
To a significant degree, Chemistry is based on Kelly’s failed seven-year marriage to Brandon Blackstock. The couple, who share eight-year-old daughter River and six-year-old son Remington got divorced last year, leaving Kelly to pay $1.3 million in divorce settlement and $115,000 in monthly spousal support to her ex. She also gives him $45,600 in monthly child support.
According to the songstress, the album is more than an expression of one or two emotions.
“I didn’t want everybody to think I was coming out with like “I’m angry, I’m sad” – like just one or two emotions,” she stated, per Daily Mail.
“This album is definitely an arc of an entire relationship, you know? And a whole relationship shouldn’t just be brought down to one thing,” she added.
For Kelly, the album is a combination of the good, the bad, and the ugly. While she says chemistry can be cool, fun, and even sexy, “it can also be very bad for you.”
