Katy Perry To Embark On An Overdue Road Tour Once She Wraps Up Las Vegas Residency
Fans of Katy Perry are happy with the singer’s announcement that she’ll be taking her show back on the road. The Roar hitmaker acknowledged that not everyone could go to Las Vegas, so she’ll be out on tour after almost five years of not touring.
During the singer’s Out interview, the pop star revealed her plans that after she’s done with her PLAY residency in Las Vegas’ Resorts World, she’ll be heading out. The 38-year-old explained that she wants to share her show with the rest of the world.
She shared, “The last time I was on tour was in 2018. I’m… due. How about that? I’m due to go out and see the kids that couldn’t make it to Vegas.”
The California beauty also mentioned that she is proud of her Vegas shows, but it was pretty challenging to cart around and use all the elaborate costumes and set pieces. And if there’s one thing that Katy is known for when it comes to her shows and performances, it is that she goes all out with the setup and her outfits.
Katy further explained, “It is such a spectacular show that we love so much,” she added. “It’s almost like the greatest hits show! I call it all thriller, no filler. I wish I could bring it to the rest of the world.”
The Firework singer continued by stating that closing PLAY, a significant chapter of her career, also meant that a new chapter was about to begin, which Katy was excited about. She likes the idea of further exploring how her career and story continue.
Many singers say yes to a Las Vegas residency because it gives them a sense of home—even for just a year. And this is a win for Katy, a first-time mom who welcomed her 2-year-old daughter, Daisy, with fiancé Orlando Bloom.
Katy revealed that during her residency, she could drop her daughter off at preschool and, during the night, put on a beautiful show. She mentioned to Extra that this was her version of work-life balance during the 2022 CMA Awards. Being able to make lunches may sound like a small thing for most mothers but not to Katy.
Katy’s PLAY started on December 29, 2021; since then, she has done small stints in 2022 and 2023.
Her Las Vegas show was inspired by movies like I Shrunk the Kids, Honey, and Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, and Katy described her stint at PLAY as larger than life. She called her Vegas performance the kookiest camp show ever put together.
Her Vegas performance is made up of 19 songs, and some of the hits included are California Girls, E.T., Waking Up in Vegas, Dark Horse, Teenage Dream, I Kissed a Girl, Roar, Never Really Over, and the show-stopping Firework. And Katy’s hard work and all-out performance was such a fantastic show that it received critical acclaim.
Katy’s last show in Las Vegas is scheduled for November 4, and then from here on, Katy will soon embark on a road tour, with her last one being Witness: The Tour in support of her 2007’s Witness album.
