Blake Lively Ditches Met Gala To Join Husband Ryan Reynolds At Wrexham Celebration
Blake Lively will be joining her husband Ryan Reynolds at the Wrexham open top bus parade in celebration of their team’s promotion back into the English Football League. The parade will begin at the Racecourse Ground at 6:15 pm before touring the city. The couple had missed the Met Gala on Monday, with Blake taking to Instagram to confirm she wouldn’t be attending.
The team’s journey to promotion has gained worldwide attention, with viewers rejoicing when they finally earned promotion with a 3-1 victory over Borehamwood. Last month, Ryan and Rob McElhenney purchased the club in 2020 and made history when Wrexham was promoted.
Ryan and Blake were quizzed about what they were planning to do after they confirmed they would be skipping the Met Gala this year at a screening of Welcome to Wrexham in Los Angeles. Ryan replied, “We’ll be in the UK. We have Wrexham business to deal with.”
“I’m still a little speechless about it. So many things had to go right that involved dumb luck in addition to obviously putting in a strong foundation. A lot of things went right. Things we never expected,” the actor added.
Blake and Ryan’s absence from the Met Gala was felt, and she was trending on Twitter. Fans who were impressed by her appearances in the past made tweets like, “the Met Gala isn’t the Met Gala without Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds.”
