Scarlett Johansson Makes Rare Comment About Ex-Husband Ryan Reynolds
More than a decade after their divorce, Scarlett Johansson is reminding us of earlier times.
This happened during Johansson’s appearance on the Goop podcast. During the podcast, Gwyneth Paltrow, the host, asked Johansson about the number of times she had been married, to which the actress replied, “Three times.”
To this, Paltrow remarked, “Oh, that’s right because I forgot you were married to Ryan Reynolds. Goals.”
Johansson laughed and acknowledged that they had not been married for long, referring to the short two years they were married for. However, Paltrow reminded her that it still counted.
As Paltrow talked about Reynolds being a favorite in her family, Johansson remarked that he was a good guy.
The stars were married from 2008 to 2011. They announced their split in December 2010 and finalized their divorce in July 2011.
The ex-couple hardly talks about their romance or marriage. However, Johansson touched on the topic briefly in her interview with Vanity Fair in 2019.
She said, “I mean, the first time I got married I was 23 years old. I didn’t really have an understanding of marriage. Maybe I kind of romanticized it, I think, in a way.”
Scarlett married journalist Romain Dauriac in 2014. However, the couple called it quits in 2017 and are parents to 8-year-old Rose, whom they both co-parent.
Later the same year, Johansson started dating “Saturday Night Live” funnyman Colin Jost, and the couple got engaged in 2019.
They tied the knot in 2020 and have a 20-month-old son, Cosmo.
In his 2020 memoir, Colin wrote about his wife, saying she had a grace and smile that he had not seen in any other human.
He continued, “I’ve met someone I love and who I feel more comfortable with than I ever have before. I feel more confident committing to what I’m working on and standing by whatever I create, regardless of whether people like it or not.”
As for Reynolds, he started dating “Gossip Girl” alum Blake Lively in 2011 and tied the knot in 2012. The couple has four children, James, 8, Inez, 6, Betty, 3, and the youngest, whom they welcomed this year.
In 2020, Reynolds apologized on his and his wife’s behalf for getting married at Boone Hall in South Carolina, which was a former plantation. Reynolds said that they were deeply and unreservedly sorry and that it was impossible to reconcile.
He said, “What we saw at the time was a wedding venue on Pinterest. What we saw after was a place built upon devastating tragedy.”
Earlier in 2016, he shared his love for his wife while receiving his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
In his acceptance speech, Reynolds said that he wanted to thank his wife, who was everything to him. Directly talking to Blake, Reynolds said that the actress was the best thing that happened to him and that she makes everything in his life better. He further tells Blake that she has given him two of the most incredible children he could hope for.
