Sofia Richie and Elliot Grainge’s Glamorous Wedding in the South of France
Sofia Richie indeed was one beautiful bride as she walked down the aisle with her father, Lionel Richie, to say “I do” to her now-husband, British music executive Elliot Grainge. The lavish ceremony was held at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc on the French Riviera last Saturday.
The model looked sensational wearing her beaded ivory custom wedding gown, while her father, a four-time Grammy winner, also looked proud and content as he walked her youngest daughter down the aisle.
The 24-year-old socialite ensured that all eyes were on her during her wedding day as she had three Chanel dresses at her disposal during her weekend wedding. And her dapper groom matched her with perfection, clad in a black Tom Ford tuxedo.
Elliot is a successful man in his own right. He is the son of Lucian Grainge, Universal Music Group’s CEO and chairman. Currently, he works as the CEO of the indie record label 10k Projects and actively works with artists Tekashi 6ix9ine and Trippie Redd.
The wedding was indeed a star-studded affair, with numerous celebrities in attendance, all dressed to impress. Sophia’s older sister, Nicole, looked equally stunning in her black asymmetrical gown, as did Nicole’s husband, Joel Madden. Nicole’s sister-in-law, Charlie’s Angel Cameron Diaz, was also in attendance as she is married to Joel’s twin, Benji Madden. Socialite Paris Hilton was also spotted among the guests.
Vogue was the first to confirm that Sophia and Elliot are finally tying the knot in the South of France. Sophia was gushing about her groom on the publication’s Instagram account, saying, “I’m so excited to be married just because I’m marrying Elliot, I know that sounds so cheesy, but he’s the man of my dreams.”
Talking about her wedding dress, the model further added, “I honestly think @elliot is going to love it. He is my biggest cheerleader when it comes to anything I wear. If he doesn’t cry, I’ll be very sad.”
The model was very hands-on with her dress, and she worked alongside Virginie Viard, Chanel’s creative director, to bring her dream wedding to life. The socialite admitted that when she was younger, she wanted a princess-inspired dress for her wedding, but when she got older, she wanted something simpler.
“It has always been a dream of mine to have Chanel design my wedding dress,” said Sofia. “At my first fitting at the Chanel salons in Paris, I immediately envisioned the dress I wanted to get married in: a beautiful lace-embroidered halter gown with a long train. Within the dress are subtle details, including an embroidered heart to represent the love that Elliot and I share, as well as a blue embroidered S&E on the inside of the dress above my heart.”
The theme was also carried through her makeup, where Sophia wanted a clean, simple, and timeless look. She mentioned that 20 years from now, she wants to be able to look back at her wedding photos and not say that she was a glamazon bride.
As she walked down the aisle, Sophia admits she was a ball of nervous energy, but having her father by her side made all the difference. “My father has always been the most comforting figure in my life,” Sophia said. “He said: ‘You’re the love of my life, and I’m so happy for you.]’ It was very emotional, and I feel so lucky that I have my parents. I’m very grateful.”
