Meta Cancels Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk
Red Table Talk, Jada Pinkett Smith’s talk show, will end after five seasons.
Last Wednesday, information was released stating that Meta has canceled The Daytime Emmy Award-winning series. Jada Pinkett Smith, daughter Willow Smith, and Jada’s mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris host the show.
According to Variety, Meta canceled the show primarily because it ceased its original Facebook Watch programs. Truth be told, many shows have already come to an end, with Red Table Talk being one of the last remaining active programs.
The talk show saw plenty of high-profile celebrities as guests, including the Smith patriarch, Will, and then, at one time, Demi Moore, Sandra Bullock, Jordyn Woods, Snoop Dogg, Keanu Reeves, Matthew McConaughey, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kevin Hart.
Host Jada and her husband, Will, produced it under Westbrook Studios, the production company they own. But it may just be a temporary goodbye because there’s a likely chance that Red Table Talk will soon be settled in a new home.
Given that Facebook recently made many changes, including Mina Lefevre, Meta’s head of development and programming, leaving the company. This is associated with the ongoing layoffs that, so far, have affected more than 20,000 of the organization’s employees.
As of today, the company has already scaled back all its original programming series. Meta is following in the footsteps of Google, whose YouTube department was also shut down, as they move forward with the main focus on user-generated content.
With tweaks and compromises happening in the background, the Red Table Talk team is confident that they’ll be back streaming in no time.
While waiting for definite plans for the talk show, Jada’s husband has been keeping himself busy because, after the Oscar slapping controversy, the Men In Black alum has something to look forward to, and that’s his Bad Boys 4 shooting with Martin Lawrence.
The two actors are reportedly excited to be back together for the fourth installment of their movie.
Will and Martin appeared remotely at CinemaCon and apologized for not being in Las Vegas personally. Still, Martin quipped and honestly said that they were not, in fact, sorry to miss the event because they had too much fun filming and that they were being paid to film their buddy cop franchise.
Both actors are reprising their roles as detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, and some of their crew from the 2020 Bad Boys For Life are back too, like Paola Nunez, Vanessa Hudgens, and Alexander Ludwig. So far, the plot of the fourth installment is still a secret, but Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi will again be behind the camera, and Chris Bremner is directing from the script.
The first Bad Boys film was released in 1995, and Martin felt that the movie had a transformative impact on his acting career. And another installment of the movie is still a must and can potentially beat the last Bad Boys For Life’s success, which is the highest-grossing film of the entire franchise.
