Katy Perry’s Perfect Coronation Concert Gown And The Behind The Scenes Of A Successful Performance
It was almost two weeks ago, but Katy Perry’s epic performance at King Charles III’s coronation concert on May 7, 2023, is still a hot topic among social media users.
And after her performance, the Roar hitmaker revealed some backstage secrets to the delight of her Instagram followers. The 38-year-old singer joined other invited stars like Take That, Paloma Faith, and Lionel Richie and lit up the stage at Windsor Castle with their music.
The coronation performance was organized as part of the celebrations of King Charles III officially taking the throne the previous day at Westminster Abbey.
Last Monday, Katy gave her followers more details about the Vivienne Westwood gown she wore on stage via Instagram.
The gold ball gown has a lining featuring personalized embroidery with the words “Katy Perry [crown symbol] Charles III 2023 VW.”
Katy also revealed that her mom, Pentecostal pastor Mary Perry, also came with her during the massive UK celebrations. Recall that Katy looked sensational in her huge metallic gown as she sang her famous songs in front of more than 20,000 people who watched and enjoyed King Charles and Queen Camilla’s concert. Even the royals, specifically the younger ones like Princess Charlotte, were seen singing along with Katy as she belted out her hit songs.
Aside from Katy’s OOTD and impressive vocals, the crowd was further wowed by the remarkable light show and pyrotechnics that drove the audience’s energy higher. At one point, while singing Roar, the light-up drones were assembled into a tiger’s head, much to the delight of the concertgoers.
The beaming and excited Katy didn’t forget to thank the king for being part of the historical event. She even gushed about being able to bring her mom along and staying in a castle.
Katy’s show-stopping gown featured a sculpted bodice and a plunging neckline, and she made no mistake because her gold skirt ensured that she could be seen easily as she owned the stage with her performance. Her gown had quirky puffed sleeves, and the singer wore large gold earrings to complete the regal look.
After Katy’s happy Instagram post, her beau, Orlando Bloom, also posted on his own Instagram about the concert, proud of his partner. His post said, “Immensely proud of you, my love. You always bring the light.” The singer quickly commented, “Our light” to Orlando’s post.
While the concert was happening, Mission Impossible actor Tom Cruise made a surprise cameo in a pre-recorded segment, much to everyone’s delight.
The 60-year-old A-list actor was captured flying his iconic Top Gun plane, shown during an interlude between the performances. Tom was seen flying the plane and stated, “Pilot to pilot – your Majesty, you can be my wingman anytime!”
Tom’s line is a nod to King Charles’ Navy and Air Force service during his military career from 1971 until 1994. The Top Gun: Maverick is known for his love of flying and was seen flying the P-51 Mustang during his cameo.
Pierce Brosnan and Bear Grylls also appeared in the pre-recorded video, sharing their thoughts about the king’s military service. The video was intended to reveal some little-known facts about the newly crowned king.
