Amber Heard Embraces Fresh Start In Spain After High-Profile Trial
Amber Heard has found contentment in the beautiful city of Madrid, Spain. After her defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp concluded in Virginia on June 1, 2022, the actress decided to relocate to Spain, seeking solace and a fresh start.
In a TikTok video that has been circulating online, the actress known for her role in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom can be seen responding to questions from local reporters while standing on the sidewalk. Speaking in Spanish, she expresses her love for Spain, stating, “I love Spain so much.”
When asked if she plans to stay, she enthusiastically replies, “Yes, I hope so. Yes, I love living here.”
Kindly bidding farewell to the people filming her, Heard says, “I hope you are well, ciao. And thank you, nice to meet you.”
When asked about her future movie projects, she confirms that she does have some lined up, stating, “I move on. That’s life.”
According to an insider who spoke with PEOPLE, Amber was eager to leave the United States with her 2-year-old daughter, Oonagh Paige, after the trial. The source explains that the 37-year-old sought more privacy and has found it in Spain. The trial took a toll on her mental well-being, and she longed to start anew in a different country. The insider added that she is excited to resume her work in the film industry, as she felt exhausted and disappointed by the trial’s outcome. She believed she was mistreated, but she is now focused on leaving the past behind.
The source further shares, “She has new energy and is focused on things that she loves.”
In December, Amber revealed that she and Johnny had reached a settlement and decided to drop their appeals related to the Virginia verdict. In a statement, she expressed, “It’s important for me to say that I never chose this. I defended my truth, and in doing so, my life as I knew it was destroyed. The vilification I have faced on social media is an amplified version of the ways women are re-victimized when they come forward.”
Amber emphasized that she now has an opportunity to emancipate herself from a situation she tried to leave over six years ago, on her own terms. She made it clear that her actions did not indicate admission or concession. She has no restrictions or gags on her voice moving forward.
Meanwhile, Johnny, who starred in a French-language film called Jeanne Du Barry, received applause as the movie premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. During a press conference at the festival, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor was asked about his comeback to the industry after the widely publicized trial and whether he felt boycotted by Hollywood. He responded, “Do I feel boycotted now? No, not at all. But I don’t feel boycotted by Hollywood because I don’t think about it. I don’t think about Hollywood. I don’t have much further need for Hollywood myself.”
Amidst their separate journeys, Amber and Johnny strive to reclaim their lives and focus on their respective careers.
