The Final Months Of Tina Turner: Yoga Classes, Shopping, And Eating In Her Lakeside Switzerland Village

The world is still in shock following the death of music legend and now the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Tina Turner. But if there’s any consolation, the performer lived her final days in peace and contentment.
In her last few days, Tina reportedly spent her days pottering around her home, an Instagrammable and charming lakeside village in Switzerland.
The multi-millionaire singer was commonly seen strolling through the Küsnacht streets. She loved shopping for designer clothes and indulging in gourmet food. At times, Tina would be spotted in the local park, taking in her surroundings—the beautiful Zurichsee Lake.
Tina had a driver, butler, and an entire team of staff, but she would drive herself around, enjoying her Porsche Cayenne and doing things on her own.
Locals and neighbors remember Tina as friendly, modest, and polite.
Tina’s butler, Benny Lang, fondly shared how Tina would go to town and enjoy some shopping. He recalled how Tina liked to go alone, sometimes accompanied by her husband, Erwin Bach.
Benny further revealed how Tina and Erwin particularly liked the Moreira Gourmet House. This is a place where you can find the best-smoked salmon and white truffles—and true enough, these were Tina and Erwin’s standard purchases.
It was in 1995 that Tina relocated to Küsnacht. Back then, Erwin got a job running the Swiss offices of EMI Music near Zurich. After settling in Switzerland, the two, who had been dating for more than two decades, finally married in 2013.
In the same year, Tina acquired Swiss citizenship and ultimately relinquished her US passport. While working on her Swiss nationality, Tina learned to speak German, a prerequisite for her citizenship. She also took yoga classes at the Horn public park, just minutes from her beautiful château.
Her neighbors recalled memories of Tina attending yoga classes and how she loved sitting at the park and by the water. One of the locals shared, “Tina would say ‘Gruezi’, how we say ‘hello’ in Swiss-German, to people walking their dogs. She was very friendly.”
Tina and her husband were undoubtedly part of their community and were often described as “not conceited”. When people said their hellos to her, she would respond and return the greeting sincerely.
Küsnacht, a short drive from Zurich, Switzerland’s financial capital, has become home to many wealthy expats. Although English is still widely spoken throughout the little town, especially in restaurants and luxury shops, many expats like Tina take the initiative to learn the native dialect.
Many highly successful people and their families choose Küsnacht because of the peaceful and relaxing environment. And just like one of the locals mentioned, the residents leave these high-profile people alone to do their business, and they can be who they want to be in their little town.
