Newly Engaged Couple Jeff Bezos And Lauren Sanchez Will Finally Tie The Knot
It is official! Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez are set to marry after getting engaged.
And this new milestone for the couple was indeed one for the books because no cost was spared to make the moment unforgettable. Jeff, Amazon’s big boss, popped the question to Lauren, an Emmy Award Winning journalist, on board his impressive $500 million super yacht.
Over the weekend, the couple was seen relaxing and having a good time, kissing and canoodling on “Konu.” It was also during that time when Lauren was snapped with a massive sparkler on her ring finger, indicating that she said “Yes” to her beau’s proposal.
The newly engaged couple were then pictured just off the coast of Cannes as they were enjoying a Mediterranean trip. This was the inaugural odyssey of Jeff’s half-billion-dollar vessel, and it added to the milestone the couple share.
The super yacht they named “Koru” measures 417 feet long and 230 feet tall, making it one of the world’s largest yachts. It boasts its own helipad among other impressive features.
Jeff and Lauren reportedly traveled to Europe via private jet, and it was during the weekend when they were first seen on Koru’s deck.
Jeff has a reputation for going overboard and exceeding any usual expectations. For a man who was able to build his own rocket, he provided a not-so-subtle clue on what this voyage would be about—Jeff commissioned a curvaceous figurehead set on the boat’s prow.
It is still being determined when the gold polished wood sculpture was recently added to Koru’s design, given that the super yacht had already been commissioned in 2018. This was a year before the National Enquirer exposed Jeff and Lauren’s affair and made it public. It caused a massive scandal and resulted in both of their marriages falling apart.
News of the affair was leaked in an article dated January 9, 2019, and that same day, Jeff and his then-wife, 53-year-old Mackenzie Tuttle, announced on Twitter that they’d be separating after 25 years of marriage.
Around the same time, Lauren talked to her then-husband, 58-year-old Patrick Whitesell, and confessed to the affair.
Recall that Lauren’s husband, Patrick, the co-CEO of WME, a Hollywood talent agency, introduced Jeff to Lauren in 2016. Lauren was then working as an anchor for Fox’s Good Morning LA.
Back then, Jeff and Lauren, with their previous spouses, were seen socializing several times, all considering each other friends.
Jeff’s ex-wife, Mackenzie, who works as a novelist, walked away with a settlement amounting to $35.6 billion, and she vowed that most of what she received, she would share and give away to charitable institutions. She then moved on with Dan Jewett and married the Seattle science teacher, but their marriage wasn’t successful either, and it ended in divorce in September 2022.
Meanwhile, after the controversy exploded, Jeff and Lauren’s relationship appeared to be smooth sailing despite a rough start, and the two have become closer and stronger over the years and are now heading toward a lifetime commitment.
