Kim Kardashian Plans To Step Back From The Spotlight And Focus On SKIMS Success
In a candid interview with TIME magazine, Kim Kardashian revealed her desire to reduce her presence in the spotlight as she grows older. The reality television star and businesswoman, known for her successful SKIMS empire, admits that as she grows older, she desires less time in the spotlight.
Reflecting on her journey, Kim discusses the ups and downs of building her influential brand. SKIMS, her lounge and shapewear line, has gained recognition, featuring prominent figures like Snoop Dogg and Brooke Shields in its campaigns. Even at 42 years old, Kim has been unafraid to don the products herself. However, she acknowledges that there may come a time when she no longer feels comfortable posing in her underwear.
“I understand that maybe in my 50s, I’m not going to be wanting to pose in my underwear,” she shares with TIME. Recognizing the inevitable passage of time, she expresses her intention to reduce her appearances and participate in fewer campaigns as the years go by.
Nevertheless, she reassures her fans that she will continue to prioritize maintaining a youthful appearance. “We’ll do anything we can to look as young as we can. We’re not going to go out not trying,” she adds with a hint of determination.
Currently, the mom of four remains fully invested in her business endeavors. As both the creative director and a fit model for SKIMS, she personally tries on every piece, estimating that she has already worn around 7,000 of her products. Explaining her hands-on approach, she admits, “I always like to see it on myself. I can absolutely tell when I miss a few drops.”
Reflecting on her journey, Kim recognizes the tremendous progress she has made since SKIMS launched in 2019. In the early days, she admits to navigating her career path without a clear understanding of its direction. She recalls entering licensing deals with companies that sometimes contradicted one another, such as associating with a cupcake brand while promoting a weight-loss pill. However, she has learned from those experiences and grown both personally and professionally.
The origins of SKIMS, Kim reveals, stem from a vulnerable place. “I take it really personally. It started off of my body and my shapes, and it’s very vulnerable,” she shared.
Kim’s ambitions extend beyond the realm of women’s fashion. Behind the scenes, she has been working on a new line extension, delving into the world of menswear. TIME reports that this exciting new venture will debut in the upcoming fall season, expanding the brand’s reach and appeal.
