Pete Davidson Seeks Treatment For Mental Health Issues, Expected To Make A Swift Recovery
In a recent development, it has been confirmed that Pete Davidson has voluntarily checked into a treatment facility. According to a source close to the 29-year-old star, he is currently undergoing in-patient therapy to address his post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and borderline personality disorder.
Through Pete’s decision to seek help for his mental health, his friends and family have reportedly been supportive. The comedian has always been open about his struggles, and this is not the first time he has sought treatment for his mental health issues. In fact, he previously disclosed his diagnosis of borderline personality disorder in 2018 after battling depression and anxiety for years.
During an interview in 2017, the comedian, known for his work on Saturday Night Live, candidly shared his experience, describing the year as a “nightmare” while trying to come to terms with his diagnosis and learn how to manage the condition.
“This has been the worst year of my life, getting diagnosed with this and trying to figure out how to learn with this and live with this,” he revealed.
“The last few years have been real rough with me. I took all these mental health classes and really spent a lot of time getting me good,” he said to Variety in 2018.
In an effort to cope with his symptoms, he entered a rehabilitation program in 2016, initially attributing his mental breakdowns to heavy marijuana use.
Despite making progress, Davidson faced setbacks and turned to drinking and smoking again, claiming that marijuana helped alleviate some of his anxiety and aided in managing his Crohn’s disease. However, in a subsequent interview, he revealed that he had been in and out of mental health facilities since the age of nine. It was only after starting a new medication regimen that he found stability and a sense of relief from his turbulent years.
Pete’s struggles have not been limited to his diagnosis. Earlier this year, he reportedly underwent trauma therapy following online harassment from Kanye West during his relationship with Kim Kardashian. Despite this challenging period, Pete holds no regrets about dating Kardashian and is now focused on his career.
Recently, Pete and his current girlfriend, Chase Sui Wonders, were involved in a car accident in Beverly Hills. He has since been charged with reckless driving, and his arraignment is scheduled for July 27. However, there may be uncertainties regarding his ability to attend the court date if his stay in treatment is extended.
