Kevin Spacey Denies Sexual Assault Charges In First Testimony
Kevin Spacey took the stand at Southwark Crown Court in London on Thursday, passionately denying the 12 charges of sexual assault brought against him by four men from 2001 to 2013. The renowned House of Cards actor, 63, expressed his deep distress over the allegations, calling them “madness” and asserting his innocence.
One complainant accuses Kevin of inappropriate touching during a car ride to a showbiz party in the early 2000s. The actor, however, defended himself, describing the incident as a “romantic” gesture in his mind, denying any aggressive or painful behavior. He claimed to have had a “flirtatious relationship” with the complainant and emphasized that he respected the alleged victim’s boundaries.
Kevin claimed he was deeply hurt by the allegations made by this particular complainant, expressing shock that someone he had known for over two decades would turn against him. He lamented the damage to his reputation caused by the accusations.
““I never thought the [name of man] I knew over 20 years later would stab me in the back,” he stated.
Another complainant alleges that Kevin forcefully grabbed his crotch while driving, endangering their lives. Disputing this claim, Kevin vehemently denied any such act, stating that he had no intention of harming himself or others. He asserted that the incident never occurred, portraying the allegation as baseless.
The Hollywood star also addressed allegations from a different complainant, who claimed he (Kevin) made vile sexual comments and grabbed his penis at a West End theater. He categorically denied these allegations, stating that he never made such remarks to anyone in his life. In his words: “I never said any of the things that he claims I said to him, and wouldn’t. And never have to anyone in my life.”
He further emphasized his commitment to never embarrass himself or his esteemed friend, Dame Judi Dench, who had invited him to the theater event.
When shown a photograph of the complainant, Kevin stated that he did not recognize the individual, further contesting the validity of the accusations.
Throughout the trial, jurors have heard accounts of “aggressive” crotch grabs from three men, one of whom claimed that the Baby Driver actor also kissed his neck and instructed him to “be cool” at a property where they were staying. Another complainant accused him of drugging and sexually assaulting him while he was asleep. These allegations have left Spacey shaken and with a tarnished reputation. “I lost my reputation, I lost everything in a matter of days,” he said, going over the impact of the accusations.
