Oh, Yes, Baby! Rihanna’s Halftime Show and Second Pregnancy Announcement! And 5 Emmy Nominations!
Rihanna definitely has a reason to celebrate because last Wednesday, the Umbrella singer learned that her Super Bowl LVII Halftime show impressed many people and earned a whopping five Emmy Award nominations.
Aside from the actual match, the Halftime show, which is one of the most anticipated parts of the finals, is formally identified as the Apple Music Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show.
Using her Instagram account, the singer, who used her live show during the football match finals between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles to announce her second pregnancy, thanked her fans and followers for reaching more than 121 million concurrent viewers. This is yet another milestone in RiRi’s career.
The pregnant Rihanna shared four pictures from her performance, showing the now-iconic jumpsuit that revealed her baby bump. Another snap was that of the impressively huge Super Bowl crowd, which was more or less 68,000 in number, watching in the stands for the game and the half-time show.
To the delight of Rihanna’s 152 million followers on Instagram, she wrote, “Pull up breed up 2 d bashment. 5 EMMY NOMZ is craaaaazzzyyy!!! I’m so grateful for every single person involved in creating these memories!”
Further, in her post, RiRi continued to express her gratitude, especially to Roger Goodell for his unwavering trust, Robert Kraft for believing in what Rihanna and her team can do, and for initiating the original connection with the National Football League.
The Barbadian singer also mentioned how she and her team are looking forward to continuously elevating the Super Bowl Halftime Show and creating treasured memories with people worldwide.
Last year, the Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show was headlined by the OGs of hip hop– pillars of today’s music. Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Mary Kendrick Lamar, and J. Blige, with guest appearances by Anderson. Paak and 50 Cent. The performance of this renowned artist made many Gen X and Millennial viewers nostalgic.
The performance last year also got five Emmy nominations. It emerged as a winner in three categories, including Outstanding Variety Special (Live), a first for any Halftime show. Rihanna made it the second time, as her performance was again nominated for the same category.
The Apple Music Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show Starring Rihanna is nominated in the following categories: Outstanding Production Design For A Variety Special, Outstanding Directing For A Variety Special, Outstanding Music Direction and Outstanding Technical Direction and Camerawork For A Special.
Rihanna’s Super Bowl performance on February 12 was considered a comeback after giving birth to RZA, her son, on May 13, 2022. This was Baby #2 with partner A$AP Rocky. The proud mama has been going on many day trips lately, carrying and even proudly showcasing her bump.
Recall that the Love On The Brain hitmaker was open to having up to four children, as mentioned during her 2020 interview with British Vogue. And an insider close to the couple confirmed that Rihanna is having the best time parenting with A$AP Rocky.
