Drake And Meek Mill Unite Onstage To Delight Philly Fans After Feud
In a heartwarming display of friendship and unity, Drake and Meek Mill put an end to their long-standing feud during the It’s All a Blur Tour stop in Philadelphia on Monday night. The two renowned rappers, who had once engaged in a bitter dispute, proudly walked together on stage, demonstrating that forgiveness and growth can bridge any divide.
Drake, addressing the crowd at the Wells Fargo Center, openly spoke about their past feud, which originated in 2015, and expressed how they’ve managed to bury the hatchet and move forward as friends. “Y’all see who I walked out here with right?” Drake announced, emphasizing his respect for Meek Mill’s representation of the city and the impact he has had on its music scene.
Reflecting on their previously tumultuous relationship, Drake commended Meek Mill as a genuine and resilient individual, acknowledging that their disagreements had led to a quick exit from Philly on one occasion. However, their newfound camaraderie has brought them back together to represent Philadelphia side by side.
Expressing his gratitude for their reconciliation, Drake spoke emotionally about their growth as individuals and as friends. Their onstage collaboration was a powerful symbol of unity, and Drake praised Meek Mill’s talent and their shared journey, emphasizing that this is what true camaraderie is all about.
This reunion, though significant, is not the first time the two have joined forces since resolving their differences. In September 2018, Drake invited Meek Mill onstage, signaling to the world that their past grievances were indeed in the past. The moment was so impactful that Drake took to Instagram to share a photo of the two, expressing how it brought him peace of mind and gratification.
The feud, which erupted in the summer of 2015, involved accusations from Meek Mill about Drake using a ghostwriter for their collaborative track, R.I.C.O. In response, Drake unleashed two diss tracks, Charged Up and Back to Back, addressing the allegations head-on.
During an interview with Rap Radar in December 2019, Drake shed light on the reasons behind the feud, revealing that Meek Mill was going through a rough phase and expressing how Meek’s commitment to authenticity earned his respect.
“I don’t like to glorify the situation or talk about it too much. Meek’s really about that. I know obviously he’s made a change in his life, but I’ll be the first to tell you that Meek’s that guy for real. I wasn’t beefing with no punk. For us to be able to turn that around, [it] was a big thing. I think we both felt an obligation because we know how far it was going and almost went,” he said.
