Bye for Now, Social Media! Gwyneth Paltrow Takes a Media Break To Work on Herself
More and more Hollywood celebrities and influencers are taking social media breaks. Such developments could be considered a good thing since social media can often become quite toxic.
The latest to join those taking a social media hiatus is Gwyneth Paltrow. So as not to alarm her followers, the A-list actress posted a message on Instagram to let her followers know that she’ll be taking a break.
The 50-year-old actress wrote, “Taking this full moon energy with me as I go into a social media break. Going to work on being present. Happy summer.” She also credited her friend, actor John Benjamin Hickey, for taking the picture.
The snap was of the Goop founder posing on a patio with the majestic full moon behind her. But this wasn’t just any full moon — it was the New Moon in Aquarius which could be seen last August 1. And though we love Gwyneth to bits, the star looked a little less lustrous and more tired in that pic.
Gwyneth’s Airbnb, Anyone?
One day before she posted, she also announced that she’s partnered with Airbnb. This means that the actress is giving the public the rare opportunity to experience her luxurious California guesthouse for one night on September 9, 2023. Listed as a “goop-Inspired Stay with Gwyneth Paltrow,” the winner gets to meet the multi-awarded actress in her Montecito property and see what it’s like to be neighbors with celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Ellen Degeneres, Meghan Markle, and Prince Harry.
The Airbnb description was written by Gwyneth herself. She wrote, “My Montecito home is my sanctuary for respite and mental clarity. I go there to recharge, to daydream about what we’re building at goop, and to reconnect with my family and treasured friends.”
One lucky fan and their guest get to stay in Gwyneth’s $4.9 million mansion. To entice her followers, she gave a video tour of the house in her socials with the caption, “inviting you to stay at my Montecito guest house for a night.”
Gwyneth also mentioned that the staycation is Airbnb’s idea to make the world less lonely. The listing will go live on the property hosting website on August 15 at 10 PM PST.
The Golden Globe winner bought the Montecito property with her husband, Brad Falchuk, in 2016. It boasts 14,000 square feet of land with an Olympic-sized swimming pool, four bedrooms, and four bathrooms. At the time, the house required extensive work. To make it a more sustainable home, they planted additional trees around the property and had 60 solar panels installed.
Montecito is a go-to place for many top celebrities since it can provide them with a more relaxed and private environment away from all the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s house is three miles from Gwyneth’s.
