Natalie Portman Loathes Feeling Powerless From Husband’s Infidelity
Infidelity may well be one of the most hurtful and unimaginable events that can happen in a marriage. Unfortunately, it’s exactly what actress Natalie Portman is facing with her husband of 11 years, French dancer and choreographer Benjamin Millepied. According to an insider, the situation has made Natalie feel powerless.
“[Natalie] hates that [Benjamin’s] infidelity has made her feel powerless. She doesn’t know if she can regain her power by staying with him or leaving him. It is a struggle to have to continue to deal with it,” the source revealed.
Based on a report by Page Six, Natalie learned about her husband’s infidelity in early March, leading the two to separate briefly. His indiscretion became public knowledge in June when the French magazine Voici published news that Benjamin had an affair with a significantly younger woman, 25-year-old Camille Etienne. Twenty years younger than Benjamin, Camille is a prominent environmental activist who was named by French Vanity Fair as one of the “50 French Women Who Made 2020.”
When news broke about his infidelity, a source informed People that he was aware of his error and wants to rectify matters: “He knows he made an enormous mistake and he is doing all he can to get Natalie to forgive him and keep their family together.”
The latest update about Benjamin’s infidelity is the affair was short-lived and 100% over.
But what about Natalie? Is she willing to work things out?
Despite rumors and widespread news earlier this week that the two have already decided to call it quits, the two are still together (at least for now). The news, of course, left Natalie devastated.
When the news initially broke, Natalie was seen still wearing her wedding ring, however, the Star Wars actress was spotted some weeks ago in Australia without it, sparking rumors that a divorce may be in the cards.
A source close to the 42-year-old celebrity confirmed that Natalie and Benjamin are indeed still together, but Natalie didn’t know what to do next. The unsavory situation and public embarrassment have left the actress feeling powerless and unsure of how to move forward.
Benjamin and Natalie met in 2009 on the set of Black Swan where Natalie took on the lead role. Nearly a year after, they announced their engagement. The happy couple tied the knot in 2012 and now have two children together: 12-year-old Aleph and six-year-old Amalia.
Though their lives are under public scrutiny, especially now, Natalie has always been a private person who has mostly kept her personal life under wraps. Whatever the couple decides to do, Natalie will do her best to protect her children and their privacy.
