Joe Jonas And Sophie Turner Announce Amicable Divorce Decision
In a joint statement posted on their social-media accounts, Joe Jonas, 34, and Sophie Turner, 27, shared the news of their decision to end their four-year marriage. The couple expressed their desire for privacy and unity in this challenging time.
“After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” they posted on Instagram. Addressing the speculations surrounding their divorce, they emphasized, “There are many speculative narratives as to why, but truly this is a united decision, and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
The pair chose to turn off comments on their respective posts to maintain a sense of privacy and dignity during this difficult period.
Joe filed for divorce from Sophie in Miami, with the documents confirming that “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.” The couple had a prenuptial agreement in place, as per the divorce filing.
The two celebrities tied the knot in 2019, following nearly three years of dating. They celebrated their union with two weddings, one in Las Vegas and another in France, which captured the attention of fans worldwide.
Together, Joe and Sophie share the joy of parenting two beautiful children: 3-year-old Willa and their second daughter, known as D.J., who was born in July 2022.
Recent reports shed light on the couple’s decision to part ways. Joe had retained a divorce lawyer, though he continued to wear his wedding band. It was revealed that they had been “living separate lives for months” and had spent “the whole summer apart.”
According to an insider, “They were not separated but they’ve been living separate lives for months.”
The source also revealed that the Do Revenge actress and Sucker singer “haven’t gotten along in a while, but they’re hoping to resolve this all amicably.”
As for custody arrangements, the source added, “As far as custody goes, this literally all just happened, so they’re figuring it out in real time. They did have a prenup. As a family, they were based in Florida. The kids were with him the last few months, traveling with him with family while he’s been on tour. Sophie’s been working in the UK.”
In this challenging period, Joe and Sophie hope for privacy as they navigate this transition in their lives. This is not unusual for them as much of their relationship has been kept private. Explaining the reason for that, Sophie stated, “I want to feel like an open book. But when we started dating, I realized that I didn’t have a ton of stuff that was just for me. And in the end, it makes me a better person to have something for myself.”
