Russell Brand’s Talent Agency Lets Him Go Amid Allegations
When it rains, it pours. After serious sexual allegations that include rape and the recently released documentary by Channel 4, In Plain Sight, Russell Brand’s talent agency severed all ties with him, claiming that the comedian misled them.
Tavistock Wood (TW), the talent agency representing stars like Lily James, Dustin Hoffman, Dominic West, and Charles Dance, has confirmed that all their professional ties with Russell have been terminated.
One of the alleged sexual assault victims is a 16-year-old girl who claimed that Russell’s literary agent contacted her in 2020 and, coincidentally, was also a co-founder of the agency.
In response, the official statement of Tavistock Woods says, “Russell Brand categorically and vehemently denied the allegation made in 2020, but we now believe he misled us. TW has terminated all professional ties to Brand.” As of writing, images of the comedian were removed from the agency’s website.
This separation comes amidst Russell’s sold-out performance in Wembley where fans cheered and supported him.
Recall that the allegations against Russell were published by The Sunday Times in a joint investigation done with Channel 4. The investigation and its results span from 2006 to 2013. Russell has denied all the allegations thrown at him through a video he uploaded to his YouTube channel.
The horrendous testimonies from the alleged victims came less than 12 hours after Russell uploaded the YouTube video where he mentioned receiving disturbing letters from a newspaper and a mainstream media TV company that aggressively accused him.
Denying all allegations, Russell stated that he has become a victim of a coordinated media attack and believes a plot is being enacted against him.
Russell’s current wife, who is pregnant with their third child, has not commented or shared anything on her social media account since the controversy exploded. But he is receiving support from Elon Musk and Andrew Tate who agree that Russell is a victim of a media attack.
Some netizens share this view. They believe that it’s part of a conspiracy to bring him down because of his political rants on his YouTube channel.
After learning that the video streaming platform demonetized his account, netizens rallied to defend him, saying that he was being punished before due process could be followed.
Nikki Odin Foster posted, “There has been no police report filed, no charges, just accusations.”
Meanwhile, Chuck Warnock pointed out, “Punishing Brand BEFORE a conviction?! Has to be because he’s no longer left-wing.”
Much of the flak that Russell is receiving today stems from Channel 4’s investigation. Before it aired, it teased viewers by saying that it would reveal a celebrity’s shocking history of sexual assault and rape, including his controlling behavior.
While the celebrity’s name was kept under wraps, many suspected that it was Russell after the actor uploaded a video on his YouTube channel that seemed to pre-empt the upcoming revelations.
In the streaming show, four women shared their stories with Channel 4. It also featured its joint investigation with Times which has been running for more than a year. Aside from his posted video, Russell and his representatives have released no new comments or statements.
