Keanu Reeves’s Partner Shared Bits and Pieces About Their Relationship

Being in a relationship with a Hollywood celebrity is hard, and being a long-time partner of an actor loved by many can be a lot of pressure, especially if that celebrity is Keanu Reeves.
In a rare moment, Keanu’s partner, Alexandra Grant, shared what it’s like to have “the internet’s boyfriend” as a significant other. Over the years, Keanu and Alex have done their best to keep their relationship low-key and out of the public eye. Apart from attending a handful of red carpet events, they have kept to themselves.
Last Friday, 50-year-old Alex, an accomplished and successful career woman, attended the Beverly Arts Icon Awards in Los Angeles, where she was honored. As expected, Alex walked alone and Keanu was nowhere in sight. (The last appearance of the 50-year-old Matrix star was when he and his band, Dogstar, had a live gig.)
During the event, Alex was asked what it was like to date someone who was famous and whether it was better to attend red-carpet events without him. To everyone’s delight, Alex gamely responded, giving them a glimpse into their relationship.
Alex said to People, “The good news about falling in love as an adult is that I had built my career by the time that my relationship had begun. I feel very confident in the relationship on the red carpet. I feel confident on it alone.”
Recall that Alex and Keanu have been together since 2011. Even before their relationship turned romantic, they were known to be good friends working on the Ode to Happiness book, a grown-up picture book where the text came from Keanu and the illustrations were supplied by Alex.
Despite being extremely low-key, Alex and Keanu have become one of Hollywood’s favorite couples, loved and supported by many. Alex recalled how, at one point, she experienced a creative block, and it was Keanu who helped her move from “being stuck.”
“In a moment of frustration in my life, I once said, ‘Sometimes I feel like a Maserati stuck in traffic,’ that I have this big engine, but, for various reasons, that I couldn’t ever go. And I know a lot of people feel frustrated in their lives that they’re not able to run their engine.”
She concluded by saying that every creative person has felt that way at one time or another.
Alex also observed, “What I love about Keanu and our exchange is that we’re pushing each other to build new roads. Seeing the other person’s problem-solving is inspiring, like, ‘Oh, well, okay, this one, that’s a cul-de-sac. How do I try this other thing?’ “
The American visual artist gushed about how much Keanu inspires her and commended him for his kindness, creativity, and hard work. She also shared that despite the fact that they work in two different mediums, at heart, they’re both storytellers.
“To make a film, you require hundreds of people. To be an artist, you don’t. You require one. You require a community to get the work into the world, but not to make it. I think part of the inspiration is the scale differences,” she shared.
