“Leave Me The Hell Alone”: Halle Bailey Takes A Stand Against Online Speculation
Halle Bailey recently took to Snapchat to address some rumors swirling around her personal life. In a candid video response, the talented 23-year-old actress known for her role in The Little Mermaid, expressed her frustration with comments about her appearance, particularly her nose, and the scrutiny she faces as a Black woman in the public eye.
“Listen, if I see one more person say something about my nose one more time, it’s going to be hell to pay. You know why? Because I’m Black. I love my nose. What are you concerned about my nose for? Leave me the hell alone,” she stated.
This response from Haley sheds light on the challenges she faces as a young Black actress and how she refuses to let superficial comments affect her self-confidence.
Recently, Bailey received recognition at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards in London.. During her acceptance speech for the Gen Z game-changer award, Haley expressed her gratitude for the honor and shed light on the challenges of being a public figure.
She acknowledged the struggles she has faced on her personal journey, recognizing that although they may not compare to the experiences of others, she still has a responsibility to share her story and inspire those who look up to her.
Haley eloquently shared, It’s been an adjustment to live my life under the scrutiny of that spotlight, but in the age of social media in some way, we all live under that same scrutiny — from our bodies, what our bodies look like from what we wear to who we love to the things we care about, it’s all open to scrutiny.”
Her honest advice to all, especially young women, is to find inner peace and live life authentically, free from the constant judgment of social media. She emphasized, “Don’t waste time living it for social media. Everyone has an opinion, but the only opinion that matters is your own, and you already know deep down what’s right for you.”
In a May interview with PEOPLE, the young star opened up about her blossoming romance with DDG. When asked if she would call him her “Prince Charming,” she didn’t hesitate to say, “Yeah. I would say that.”
She further explained the beauty of young love, where one can discover new facets of themselves while navigating the journey of loving someone else. In her words, “I think the best thing about young love is that you’re able to continue to find yourself through this journey of loving somebody else. And you’re discovering new parts of yourself and maybe things that you didn’t notice before about your heart.”
