Nick Carter’s Older Sister Bobbie Jean Found Dead One Year After Aaron’s Overdose
Nick Carter’s grief over the passing of his younger brother, Aaron, is just one year fresh. And now, another tragedy has struck the family. Nick’s older sister, Bobbie Jean Carter, recently passed away. She was 41.
Bobbie was known as BJ to her family. Her body was found in her home in Florida. The cause of death is still unknown. Sadly, she is the third among the Carter siblings to die early and unexpectedly.
In 2012, Nick’s sister Leslie passed away at 25 because of a toxic combination of prescription drugs.
And on November 22, 2022, Nick’s younger brother and teen sensation Aaron was also found dead. He drowned after taking alprazolam and inhaling difluoroethane. At the time of his death, Aaron was just 34 years old.
A statement from Aaron’s representative read, “On behalf of beloved Aaron Carter, his team sends condolences to his siblings, mother, and extended family. This year has definitely been one with such loss and tragedy. May you be filled with love and comfort from supporting fans and friends through this tough time. You are not alone. We know Aaron is in heaven with his sisters and reunited. May they rest in peace.”
TMZ was able to get a statement from their mother, Jane Carter. In the report, the grieving mother poured her heart out after losing yet another child.
The statement reads, “I am in shock from learning of the sudden death of my daughter, Bobbie Jean, and I will need time to process the terrible reality of this happening for the third time. When I am able to think clearly, I’ll release a fuller statement; but until then I would request to be left to grieve in private.”
Her statement continued, “[H]owever deeply a parent feels the loss of a child, the suffering of a young child at the loss of a parent must be much greater. So, I would ask the sympathetic to say a prayer for my precious eight-year-old granddaughter Bella, who previously lost her father and is now also left without her mother.”
Bobbie Jean also had a history of addiction and substance abuse, something that she has battled throughout her life. Additionally, she has a history of arrests, the most recent being earlier this year.
In June 2023, BJ was arrested and booked for fentanyl possession after she was caught stealing about $55 worth of crafts from a Hobby Lobby outlet in Florida. When she was caught and was duly brought to the craft’s office so the management could call the authorities, BJ panicked. She reached into her purse and tossed a vial under the desk.
Bobbie Jean was featured as part of the House of Carters, one of the reality TV shows broadcast on the E! entertainment network. She was shown in all eight episodes of the 2006 show that mainly followed Nick and his four siblings as he and the rest of the Backstreet Boys worked on Unbreakable, their sixth studio album.
In the TV series, the Carter siblings all tried to bond as a family while juggling their hope of reviving their careers. House of Carters only had one season, and after it ended, Bobbie Jean kept a low-key life and stayed away from the public eye.
