Nicki Minaj Electrifies New Year’s Eve Crowd With Surprising Performance Twist
Nicki Minaj gave her fans an unforgettable New Year’s Eve performance at Miami’s E11EVEN nightclub. The 41-year-old rapper, known for her chart-topping hits, surprised the audience with a unique twist during her show.
Dressed in a striking black hollow-out bodysuit, Nicki kicked off her performance with the opening verse of her 2012 hit song Starships. However, just when the crowd was getting into the groove, she abruptly halted the song, leaving fans in suspense.
With a mischievous grin, Nicki playfully teased the audience, saying, “Hold on. Psych, psych, psych, psych. I don’t perform that song no more, y’all. I don’t like it, what y’all want me to do? Stupid song.”
She quickly transitioned to Super Bass, another fan-favorite, to keep the energy high and the audience engaged.
The Va Voom Voom hitmaker’s dislike for Starships is no secret. In a 2020 interview with Pollstar Live, she openly expressed her feelings, saying, “I hate ‘Starships,’ I mean ew, ‘Starships?’ Why did I do that? I really think that every time I hear it.”
She didn’t stop there, as she also voiced her regrets about some of her other songs, including Anaconda and Your Love.
In her words, “I wish I never recorded ‘Anaconda.’ I like the video but ugh. My first ever solo song on Billboard was ‘Your Love.’ To this day I like the video but I hate the song. I could go on and on.”
Despite these candid confessions, Nicki has continued to make waves in the music industry. She released her highly anticipated album, Pink Friday 2, on her 41st birthday in early December, following several delays. The album features an impressive 22-song tracklist with collaborations from top artists such as Drake, Lil Uzi Vert, Future, Lil Wayne, J. Cole, and more.
Nicki’s journey towards Pink Friday 2 began in 2020 when she first hinted at the project by sharing “PF2” on X (formerly known as Twitter). Fans were thrilled when she announced that the album would be a sequel to her 2010 record Pink Friday. Although initially slated for an October release, she pushed it to November 17, keeping her fans eagerly awaiting its arrival.
