Sophie Turner And Joe Jonas Find Common Ground In Custody Battle
Sophie Turner, the 27-year-old English actress, has taken a significant step in resolving her child abduction complaint against her estranged husband, Joe Jonas. In a recent development, the Game of Thrones has requested a judge overseeing their divorce to dismiss the claim, according to TMZ.
This decision comes after a period of conflict between the ex-couple regarding their children’s future residence. Sophie had previously alleged that Joe had prevented their children from traveling to the UK with her.
Interestingly, this news coincides with Sophie’s appearance at London’s Heathrow Airport, where she was seen wearing a gold band on her engagement finger. This sparked intrigue amid her new romance with British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson.
It appears that Joe is also in agreement with Sophie’s request, as his attorneys have reportedly joined the motion. While the judge has not yet signed off on Turner’s request, the consensus between both parties suggests that approval is likely.
The case initially arose in September 2023 when Sophie filed a child abduction claim, asserting that Joe was violating international law by preventing their children from traveling to be with her.
The former couple shares two young daughters, Willa, three, and Delphine, one. Back in October, they established a custody arrangement following Sophie’s lawsuit against Joe, alleging that he was trying to hinder her planned trip to the UK with their children.
The custody agreement granted each parent two weeks at a time with their daughters until January 2024, allowing the girls to travel between the US and UK. This arrangement permits Sophie to bring the children to England, which she regards as their “forever home.”
While Joe took the girls on tour with The Jonas Brothers, Sophie spent Christmas with them in the UK, surrounded by her family.
This resolution in custody marked a significant step toward finalizing the couple’s divorce. Mediation was described as “ongoing and productive,” with Turner’s lawyer, Stephen Cullen, expressing hope for an amicable resolution of all issues.
The divorce proceedings began when Joe filed for divorce in Miami on September 1, citing concerns about Sophie’s partying lifestyle. However, since their temporary custody arrangement late last year, both stars have maintained a relatively low profile. They also seem to have both found romance, with Sophie confirming that she had found love with Peregrine in December and Joe seen with actress and pageant queen-turned model Stormi Bree on a romantic vacation in Aspen, Colorado.
