Allison Holker Boss Speaks About Finding Healing And Forgiveness After Husband’s Tragic Passing
Allison Holker Boss is opening up about her journey of grief and forgiveness following the heartbreaking loss of her husband, Stephen “tWitch” Boss. In a candid conversation on The Viall Files podcast, the 35-year-old So You Think You Can Dance alum shared her profound experiences since Stephen’s passing by suicide at the age of 40 on December 13, 2022.
Allison revealed that she maintains a deep connection with her late husband, even beyond the boundaries of life. “I was talking to him really actively. I talked to him almost every single night, a really long time. It would be about anything and everything. It could be how was the day today? …Or I would be really upset and yelling at him sometimes,” she stated.
Their conversations covered a wide range of topics, from daily updates to significant life decisions.
“There’s times I’ve just screamed and there’s times I’ve been like, ‘Okay, I’m picking a school for the kids. What do you think of this school?’ And then just wait for an answer. Yeah. You know, and so it’s all sorts of different kinds of things that we would talk about,” Allison shared.
One particularly poignant moment occurred when Allison forgave Stephen. She described it as “the most healing” conversation they had.
In her words, “I was outside and I was looking at the stars and I said — whether it was necessary or not, I don’t know if it was necessary or needed — but I forgave him. And I said, ‘I hope you found that peace.’ Like, genuinely, I really hope he found that peace that he needed and that he felt like he needed. You know? And that’s a really hard thing to do.”
Allison also conveyed that she still senses Stephen’s presence and protection.
“He’s still protecting me. I still feel him. My kids talk about that as well. And his love that was so great for us is still with us. You know? And so for me, I just try to hold onto that and remember that I’m still gonna have dark days,” she stated.
Addressing the support she’s received, Allison spoke about her close relationship with Ellen DeGeneres, who had a deep bond with Stephen having worked with him on The Ellen DeGeneres Show since 2014, and their friendship was truly special.
Allison appreciated Ellen’s wise words and guidance during this challenging time, sharing, “She spent a lot of time with him. So we’d had these really beautiful conversations about it and him, and sharing laughter and grief. But she’d always come through with some really solid, sound advice for me and for my future and getting through everything and support for my kids.”
