Kim Kardashian Speaks About Evolving Parenting Style
Kim Kardashian opened up about the changes she’s made in her approach to parenting her four children: Psalm, 4, Chicago, 6, Saint, 8, and North, 10.
In an interview with Bustle, the reality star acknowledges that she has adjusted her parenting style as her children grow and develop their own personalities. When it comes to glam and beauty, she shares that while her oldest daughter, North, has been experimenting for some time, she is more cautious with her younger children.
“I look back and there’s times when I remember I let my daughter wear a red lip once for Christmas. Would I do that now? Probably not,” she says. This change in her perspective reflects a commitment to modesty and age-appropriate choices.
Kardashian highlights how her children’s interests and behaviors have influenced her parenting decisions. She explains, “At least with my oldest daughter, she just likes to dress her friends up and do makeup looks, whether it’s like Pikachu or the Grinch. I don’t think she’s there yet to where she is going into Sephora and trying on stuff.”
She humorously recalls a recent visit to a makeup department with North, where her daughter tested makeup products but used them to draw a heart on her face.
“I’m like, I don’t think that’s really why you use eyeliner,” Kim remarked.
Despite her caution with cosmetics outside the home, the SKIMS founder welcomes her daughters’ exploration of makeup at home, viewing it as a form of artistic expression. She says, “They are always trying to use everything that I have in my drawers. I think it’s a fun game for them. It’s art for them to try to do makeup, which is so fun for me to watch.”
She further emphasizes, “It’s like they want to play with their friends and do it, and then they want to just wash it right off. I’m down for the artistry. I think it’s fun when they’re trying it all and expressing themselves.”
Kim’s recent Instagram posts also provide insight into her parenting style. She celebrated her daughter Chicago’s sixth birthday with a Bratz-themed party, showcasing family values and a focus on celebrating childhood. The event featured a heart-shaped birthday cake and a fashion runway, reflecting a wholesome approach to entertainment.
In December, Kardashian took her daughters to Mariah Carey’s Merry Christmas One And All! show at the Hollywood Bowl. In a post to her Instagram Story, she filmed a part of the show where Chicago appeared to be sleeping.
