50 Cent Faces Lawsuit Over Concert Mishap
Rapper 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, finds himself in legal trouble as a fan sues him over an unfortunate incident during a concert in Los Angeles. The lawsuit, filed by POWER 106 radio host Bryhana Monegain, alleges that 50 Cent’s actions resulted in her suffering “serious and permanent injury” as well as “emotional distress.”
According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the incident occurred on August 30th during 50 Cent’s “The Final Lap” tour at the Crypto.com Arena. Bryhana claims that the trouble began when the rapper realized that his microphone was not working properly. In an attempt to rectify the situation, 50 Cent threw the microphone off the stage, unintentionally striking Bryhana in the face and left wrist.
Fans in attendance captured footage of the moment, showing the musician tossing not one but two faulty microphones towards the crew, who were stationed near the crowd. Although the footage did not capture where the microphones ultimately landed, subsequent photos emerged, depicting Bryhana and her injuries.
Bryhana’s complaint states that she was immediately taken to the emergency department of the Los Angeles General Medical Center via ambulance following the incident. She received treatment for various injuries, including a concussion, a laceration on her forehead, and pain in her left wrist. Additionally, she reported experiencing dizziness, headaches, light and sound sensitivity, and nausea in the aftermath, claiming that she continues to suffer from “severe injuries and emotional distress.”
In addition to seeking compensation for her medical expenses resulting from the incident, Bryhana is also pursuing damages for the wages she lost during her recovery period.
Attorneys John Morgan and Casey Kilday, representing Bryhana, issued a statement to PEOPLE, saying, “Our client is pursuing a case against Curtis Jackson, professionally known as ’50 Cent,’ and his touring company, G-UNIT Touring, for the assault she allegedly suffered through no fault of her own at his concert on Aug. 30, 2023, at LA’s Crypto.com Arena. She was simply an attendee trying to enjoy herself when a heavy object came catapulting toward her face.”
The statement continued, “No matter who the assailant is, this alleged act of negligence and violence is unacceptable, and we will hold 50 Cent and his co-defendants accountable for their alleged actions. Mr. Jackson has himself previously said that ‘If the talk ain’t [a]bout money, homie, I ain’t concerned,’ so we are confident our client will be fairly and justly compensated for the injuries she suffered.”
