Michael Bublé Excited To Be Celebrity Team Captain for 2024 NHL All-Star Game”
Michael Bublé is soaring with excitement as he prepares to serve as a celebrity team captain for the 2024 NHL All-Star Game set to dazzle Toronto on Feb. 3. Joining forces with fellow Canadian celebrity captains Justin Bieber, Will Arnett, and Tate McRae, the 48-year-old Canadian crooner is geared up to give his all in this thrilling showdown.
A passionate hockey enthusiast, Michael exclaims, “I love hockey.” He goes on to share, “I’m a big fan of the game, and I always love representing my country and my passion for the sport… I was thrilled to say yes to this opportunity.”
This isn’t the legendary singer’s first dance with the NHL. In 2011, his cherished Vancouver Canucks bestowed upon him a remarkable Christmas gift – an official one-day contract, making him an honorary team member. Recounting the memory, he chuckles, “They signed me officially — I became an official member of the team with a one-day contract. I’ve already been an NHL player.”
While Michael playfully refers to himself as the “Great One” – a title reserved for hockey legend Wayne Gretzky – he acknowledges that this marks his debut appearance at the All-Star Game.
Teaming up with Jack Hughes, a forward for the New Jersey Devils, and his older brother Quinn Hughes, a defenseman for the Vancouver Canucks, Michael eagerly anticipates hitting the ice with his fellow captains. With infectious enthusiasm, he remarks, “I’m sure Will [Arnett] would say the same thing — we’re like 12-year-olds getting to do this.”
“This is like every kid’s dream… Are you kidding me? Every kid who loves the NHL,” he continues, adding, “Imagine you get to go and sit with the greatest players in the world. We get to be part of choosing the All-Star team that is going to be competing against each other? That’s crazy!”
The 2024 NHL All-Star mock draft is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. EST, marking the kickoff of a weekend filled with festivities leading up to the grand All-Star Game on Saturday.
Win or lose, Michael is simply “happy” to be part of this event. He acknowledges its significance, saying, “I think this event is great… it helps to build and peak interest in the NHL. We all want to win, I’m sure. But what I am excited for is having drinks and enjoying each other’s company. I’m competitive, but win or lose, I’m going to have a blast.”
Hockey fans can catch the 2024 All-Star Game on ABC, ESPN+, Sportsnet, CBC, and TVA Sports at 3 p.m. EST on Saturday, February 3.
