Mark Consuelos Shares Secrets To Lasting Love With Kelly Ripa
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, the beloved couple who have stood the test of time, are approaching their 28th wedding anniversary with hearts full of love and wisdom. Married in a spontaneous ceremony at Las Vegas’ Chapel of the Bells on May 1, 1996, the duo, parents to sons Michael and Joaquin, along with daughter Lola, epitomize enduring love.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at the N.Y.C. premiere for Max’s The Girls on the Bus, Mark, 52, offered his insights on nurturing a lifelong romance. When asked about advice for finding enduring love, he simply stated, “Find someone you can dream with.”
As their milestone 28th anniversary approaches, Mark hinted at plans for a grand celebration for their thirtieth, but for now, the couple looks forward to a low-key celebration. “We’ve been on a run for the past six or seven weeks. I can’t wait to just relax, sleep in my own bed for a while and enjoy that,” he said.
Echoing Mark’s sentiments, Kelly reminisced about their journey by revisiting their wedding venue in February, capturing the essence of their enduring bond in recreated photos. “It was really romantic, though. We cherish those memories, still to this day. It’s been 28 years, and we still can remember every minute of that wedding,” he said.
Amidst their personal celebrations, Mark delves into his latest role in the political series Girls on the Bus, portraying an actor-turned-politician navigating the turbulent waters of a presidential election. Reflecting on his character’s journey, Mark expressed admiration for the character’s boldness in pursuing unconventional paths.
“When I was first pitched the role, [I was told that] he’s an action star who takes a Twitter poll with his fans to see if he has a chance to do a good. And it came back overwhelmingly positive. So he said, ‘Why not do it? I can do this, I do everything else.’ And it’s quite remarkable that he actually thinks he has the chops to do it — but I think anything’s possible in this world,” Mark stated.
