Remembering Angus Cloud: Hunter Schafer Reflects On The Loss
In a heartfelt conversation with GQ’s Creativity Issue, Hunter Schafer opened up about the profound impact of losing her dear friend and Euphoria co-star, Angus Cloud, almost a year after his sudden passing.
“It’s really surreal. It doesn’t make sense. And yeah, it’s new. It’s a new kind of grieving,” the 25-year-old actress said amid tears.
Reflecting on Angus’ absence, Hunter confessed that grief strikes unexpectedly. “It will hit me when I’m on the f—ing toilet,” she admitted. “It’s really … I don’t know. Grief is f—ing weird.”
Recalling fond memories of her late co-star, who brought the beloved character Fezco to life on the hit series, Hunter emphasized the profound impact Angus had on both the show and those around him.
“People really fell in love with Angus. He was really one of the heartbeats of Euphoria,” she reminisced.
“It’s always the people that are just kind of a little too good for the world and a little too pure. He was a f—ing angel. He was sunshine,” she added.
Angus’ passing, confirmed by his family to PEOPLE in July 2023, left a void in the hearts of many. “It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today. As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways,” his family expressed in a statement.
Hunter, along with other Euphoria stars, paid tribute to Angus in the aftermath of his passing. In a heartfelt Instagram post, she struggled to find words to capture the depth of her emotions.
In a post on Instagram, she stated that she had “been trying to figure out what to say, but idk if any combination of words can articulate all of the big feelings.”
“Angus was a sunshine. To have known his warmth, his light, and his love was nothing short of a gift. I’m so grateful to have shared so many enormous fits of laughter, so many sweet moments, and the joy of getting to make something together that we loved so much. I love you Angus 💗 thank you for everything,” she wrote, adding, “my heart goes out to his family and all of his loved ones right now.”
