Hayley Erbert To Return To Tour With Husband Derek Hough After Emergency Surgery
Hayley Erbert is gearing up to hit the dance floor once again alongside her husband, Derek Hough, 38, on their Symphony of Dance tour, just four months after undergoing emergency craniectomy surgery.
Following a performance on tour in Washington, D.C. in December 2023, Hayley was rushed to the hospital where she was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel. The So You Think You Can Dance alum underwent cranioplasty surgery weeks later to replace a portion of her skull that had been removed during the emergency procedure.
Derek postponed the tour to support his wife during her recovery. However, with her remarkable progress, the couple announced that they would resume the tour together, starting in Melbourne, Florida, on April 14.
Speaking to PEOPLE about how excited she is to get back out and dance again after having something so traumatic happen, Hayley said, “Dance has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember and so I’m just really excited to get out there and do what I love and also to see the people that have supported me throughout this entire healing journey..”
Derek emphasized that while they are thrilled about Erbert’s speedy recovery, they are prioritizing her health and well-being.
“We’ve had extensive conversations and tests and results from different doctors. Every kind of doctor that you can think about from our original surgeon who did the surgeries to new people in our lives and they are very supportive,” he shared.
With Hayley receiving a clean bill of health, Derek expressed admiration for his wife’s resilience and determination. He also revealed that she has an “amazing team” that has her back and making sure she is “good and healthy.”
“She’s all clear and we’re all just amazed by her and can’t wait to go out there and put on a great show and an emotional show,” he said.
