In a hilarious twist of events, actress Kirsten Dunst and talk show host Jimmy Kimmel discovered that their sons, Ennis and Billy, respectively aged 5 and 6, had a disagreement at kindergarten.
During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Jimmy brought up the incident to Kirsten, who confirmed learning about it during a parent-teacher conference. The disagreement reportedly arose when Ennis sat in Billy’s chair after the latter stepped away to sharpen a pencil, leading to a spat between the young boys.
“I know that Billy was sitting in a chair and Ennis then went to sharpen a pencil or something. Came back, saw there was an empty chair and sat in it, and Billy came back and was mad that Ennis was in his chair,” Kirsten said.
“I heard a similar story that Billy got up to sharpen a pencil… and then there was a displacement there and they both cried,” Jimmy stated.
Despite the minor altercation, Kirsten assured that it was the “only drama” she had heard of between them and described the group of boys in their class as “very sweet.” Jimmy chimed in, jokingly mentioning how Billy’s demeanor at school differed from his behavior at home, leaving the parents baffled.
“We don’t understand it. We got to the parent-teacher conference and we’re like, ‘Really? Oh, he’s such a good listener?’ … And then we’ll go home and go, ‘Your teacher said you were a great listener.’ And he’s very proud of himself, like, ‘Why are you not a good listener here at our house?'” the host said.
Kirsten shared some insights into her own parenting experiences, mentioning her younger child James, 2, who they call “Jimmy” when he misbehaves. She humorously referred to him as “baby Chris Farley” due to his lively nature.
“He’s just hilarious. He is. He’s just like a crazy little dude,” she stated.
Expressing her concerns about James going to school, Kirsten received reassurance from Jimmy, who joked that “Jimmys do well. They thrive. Just by nature.”
Earlier in the week, Kirsten emphasized the importance of limiting screen time for her sons and encouraging them to engage with the world around them. She emphasized the absence of iPads at home and highlighted the family’s preference for activities like listening to music on record players.
“We’ve got record players. We’re just not a ‘Siri, play whatever’ household. Our kids don’t have iPads either. If they want to use an iPad on the plane, it’s Dad’s iPad,” she shared.
