Beyoncé’s Heartwarming Compliment Leaves Sheryl Lee Ralph’s Son Speechless
At the glitzy Gold Ball before the 2023 Super Bowl, where Queen Bey dazzled with her rendition of the National Anthem, something magical happened for Sheryl Lee Ralph’s son, Etienne. It wasn’t just the star-studded event that left him awestruck, but a heartwarming encounter with none other than Beyoncé herself.
During a chat on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Ralph spilled the beans about the unforgettable moment Etienne shared with the music icon. It all began with Queen Bey herself strolling over to introduce herself in a humble manner, catching Sheryl by surprise.
The veteran actress, aged 67, reminisced, “She comes over and she introduces herself — like I don’t know it’s Beyoncé.” But it was what followed that truly stole the show. Beyoncé, 42, cast her eyes upon Etienne, offering a compliment that left him swooning.
“And then she looks at my son, she looks at Etienne, and she says, ‘And you are so handsome,’” Sheryl recounted.
As Jennifer prodded for more details, Sheryl revealed the aftermath of Beyoncé’s words. “Ooh, did he pass out?” Jennifer quizzed, to which Sheryl responded with a chuckle, “My poor son just melted into a puddle.”
Etienne, captivated by Beyoncé’s golden aura, was left in disbelief. “And he’s just standing there looking at the golden image and when she walks away, he’s like, ‘Mom, she said I’m handsome,’” Sheryl stated further.
Reflecting on the encounter, Sheryl described it as nothing short of “crazy,” yet filled with an overwhelming sense of pride. “I loved that moment for him. Man, it was a good one,” she shared.
But beyond the glitz and glamor, Sheryl treasures her children, Etienne and Ivy-Victoria, dearly. In an interview with Self, she said, “They always say, ‘Children keep you young.’ If you’re open to it, they absolutely do.” She marvels at their zest for life and their dedication to making a positive impact on the world.
The actress couldn’t contain her admiration for her children’s independence and work ethic. In her eyes, they’ve earned every success on their own merit, steering clear of any shortcuts. “They’re not looking at me to help them do this or that. They’re not using nepotism. They’re not coming to me saying, ‘Can you call this? Can you do that?’ They’re doing it themselves, and I just respect them so much for that,” she affirmed proudly.
For Sheryl, Etienne’s journey holds a special significance. Surviving a harrowing car accident over a decade ago, he emerged as a testament to resilience and strength as he was later mugged and shot thrice.
